What platform are Abrams and Gillum running on?
What are the black voters from GA and FL demanding from them ?
Abrams is primarily running on improving opportunities for poor children and families in Georgia. She wants to expand Medicaid so that all poor families have access to health care and increase public spending on education especially preschool for needy kids. She's looking to decriminalize minor marijuana possession and end cash bail for poor defendants. She wants to block all attempts at voter suppression.
She's not really trying to attract moderate Republicans or conservative independents, her entire strategy is focused more around boosting turnout among the Democratic base, doing big get-out-the-vote efforts with Black voters, liberal urban whites, and the minority of Democrat-leaning rural whites who feel abandoned by conservatives.
She also has a reputation for being brilliant (Yale law degree and seems to be able to actually use her smarts in office) and for working with people to get things done.
Gillum, like Abrams, is looking to expand Medicaid to cover more people and to increase education spending (which he'd do via a 2% raise in the corporate tax rate). He wants an increase in the minimum wage. He's against the Stand Your Ground law. He's stated a desire to repeal the law that strips voting rights from all ex-felons (outside of murder and sex offenses). He's made a big deal of supporting the science of climate change and how ignoring it will be a threat to Florida's safety and environment.
He also is supposed to be some sort of incredible networker/campaigner, who has spent the last twenty years slowly building up his base of support to the point where he already had a detailed operation going all over the state before he was even really running for office.
