Update it to the latest version?
You don't have to update it. You could be like fukk it and jailbreak it now.

The whole purpose of updating is to try to get the new features.

The whole purpose of going back to iOS 8.1.2 is to have the latest version that's able to be jailbroken.

Ok cuz the iOS version on my iPad is old.... I haven't updated my iPad in over a year..... it still has an older jailbreak on it but I want to update it to the newer one.... so all I gotta do is just do the new jailbreak process immediately?

If you want to update, backup your device, restore it factory default through itunes also choose update.

If it's 1st generation iPad, the highest you can go is 5.1.1 If that's what your on, then don't even bother trying to update.

Anything older than that can go to iOS 8.1.3. so after you update then you downgrade to iOS 8.1.2 and jailbreak.

I got the iPad 2... my bad for all the questions fam but I really appreciate the help

I haven't updated in ages, my iPad is still on the iOS where you have to hold the tab and press the X to exit apps instead of just sliding it up to close them. So how do I downgrade after I update so that its jailbreakable? I mainly use jailbreak for emulators.. is there a program I can use to get my ROM files off of?

Update through iTunes to iOS 8.1.3

Download the version of iOS 8.1.2 that is compatible for your device.

Follow the directions in that link to restore your device to that version.

It's not hard. No math, no terminal, no tricks involved.

Search .tmp on Ifile and delete them all. There is a lot of secret dump files on Apple products with no native file manager :francis:

S*** can be literally gigs worth of em on the device :francis:
