originally Gawker, Inc was the main publication. Then when they were sued, Univision purchased various components of Gawker (which include The Root, Deadspin, Lifehacker.. etc.). It was all disbanded due to the Hulk Hogan info. privacy and infringement lawsuit, filed for bankruptcy- Univision became involved. But there were some issues prior to the buyout with The Root, something is just off about the whole thing.
