The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any good guys to get behind, all the actors involved seem corrupt and selfish

I hope your being sarcastic, the types of rare metals found in Congo are well worth keeping her in constant turmoil in the eyes of the west.

I know alll about that but it's not worth it for that instability in the country.
I'm sure if there was oil as well there, US would have more of an interest in the country.

They do, they just don't want another Afghanistan deal on their hands. (IMO)
You have to weight out the pros and the cons, it would benefit them but at what cost?

Well it'd benefit them much more than Afghanistan ever did. I don't think your seeing just how much money could and would be made by all those different resources.
