Social media = message boards( especially this one)

This is what I have come to the conclusion about when it comes to places on the Internet where groups of people interact, react and communicate.

Even after high school has ended everyone (for the most part) still wanted to be popular, admired and in demand.

I use to think life got in the way. So that need to a backseat.


I was wrong....

There was no way where people could measure theirselves and gain this type of feeling until the Internet came along

i can totally c/s the sentiments about this generation's inability to detach from technology these days, that i totally get.

but i don't understand people who complain about social media, and it could be just because i don't really use it. but each individual opts which services, whether it's facebook, instagram etc, that they use, and who they follow. if you don't like what you're seeing you can either stop following the person posting it or stop logging in to said service no? it's almost like these people bring it on themselves.

This has to be the worst part of growing

What I meant was no one posts pictures of themselves without makeup or not at the perfect angle. People will post a paycheck or money but won't post their bill from collectors.

They post a nice happy family picture a week later filing for divorce, it's a fake lifestyle for the most part.

This board is NOT really social media. Message boards have been around in small spaces since the advent of the internet probably 2-3 decades ago. Hell, ppl were posting on SOHH in 1999, Facebook/Myspace didnt come out til 3-5 years later.

The idea of ppl discussing topics and shared interest is not considered social media. It is a medium socializing though. But the two are different.

Unless ur detached from society completely how is it NOT possible to see all this?

Even if you only have a twitter for business purposes, all it takes is a search of something relevant to find a bunch of foolishness, or endless racism, etc.

Wasn't angry birds. If you are playing a video game, the screen tapping is consistent.
And the audio that blared for a couple of seconds wasn't a video game. Don't know what it was but it was a video, not music, game, ringtone or something else.

I took care of some kids for a couple of days for the summer and they were all engrossed in their tablets, nickelodeon and that was it. I took everything away from them and told them to go outside and it was if I had murdered their best friend.

FFWD a couple hours later and they were smelling fresh air, playing and having fun, something that would not happen if buried in these attention sucks.

yeah, it's like parnts use these tablets and things to keep their kids outta their hair. Which I can understand 10000%, but at the same time, the kids still need to go outside and play in the dirt somewhat.
