ACC can afford to lower their standards a tad bit in the academic department. That may cause them to miss out on UL, but UCONN might be able to slide in. And don't think you will just bounce back and take off in the B1G in basketball.

How is that program going to persuade a DC/Maryland kid that grew up watching the BE and ACC to skip out playing for Cuse, Nova, GT, Pitt, Duke, NCST, UCONN, Carolina, and go to Maryland to play to Nebraska, Iowa, Purdue, and Minnesota instead? That's going to be a hard sell.

:shaq2:so you're telling me all of these UK recruits sign papers on the basis of playing against Ole Miss, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Florida?

if you get hooked into the AAU market around here, you're gonna have a good team. Gary never got local talent to commit, he kept trying to recreate his underdog 02 team instead of rolling up his sleeves and playing the game.

we won't walk in and dominate, but we'll be a force if things continue on this upward trend. and god help UMD if it doesn't, men's bball is the only revenue-generating bright spot in college park right now.

you mean like Kevin Durant and Michael Beasley? :stopitslime:

All you have to do is get hooked up with the AAUs in this area, and you good. Turgeron has done that and we are starting to reap the benefits.

i forgot tho, kids in this area all rush home from school to watch Pitt and NC State battle it out on the hardwood in a time-honored local tradition. we're really not so different from green bay!

TYRONE GA!
Notre dame has a good bball team
Virginia tech only been in the acc for not even ten years.
Clemson is a founding member but they would fit in the big 12

Va and Va Tech are tied at the hip now. you can't take one without the other and the UVA alums are too close knit with the Carolina Mafia of the ACC.

Clemson can be got. Travel is going to be a problem though for a lot of these moves.

At times like these it's important to remember that Division I sports is about student-athletes working hard to excel both in the classroom and on the playing field, getting a fair exchange of a scholarship for their contributions to the universities they play for, and the traditional rivalries between schools that galvanize the region's residents and the fanbase.

you :troll:ing?

academically, Louisville isnt in the same class.
lol we talking football, not academics.

Better in football, basketball, and the olympic sports.

If academics mattered, ACC wouldn't be looking at a UCONN team facing a tourney ban because of poor APR.

TV money and following trumps all and that's where Maryland shyts on Louisville. Maryland brings you DC and Baltimore. A metro of 8.5 million. Louisville brings a small market of just over a million. Maryland easily is the more attractive school.

nah, thats not true.

its probably even there to MD having an advantage.

and basketball is really a temporary dip, MD are a traditional big program and in the middle of a hoops hotbed.

Problem is that Connecticut is a good school academically despite the poor APR due to Calhoun's antics

USNWR Ranking

UConn - 63
Louisville - 160

The ACC presidents take pride in that shyt. If academics didn't matter, they would have looked at the WVA hillbillies. :yeshrug:

I personally would rather Louisville than UConn too.

This shyt is so stupid. I HOPE GT doesn't bolt too. I like the ACC tradition.
But the positive is I live in the midwest and could actually see my team play for once.

BTW, I dont care about all this academics shyt. Yall nikkas is crazy for debating that. :pachaha:

:manny: i think tech would leave if the right deal came through. they would still play UVA every year.

only real conference that makes sense for Clemson besides the ACC is the SEC, and apparently that isn't realistic.
