Because it was hyped up and a movies first week is usually the most it makes and the money goes down week by week.

And :wtf: are you talking about with Percy Jackson:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=percyjackson2.htm
:aicmon:
it made 38 million and cost 90
And I know that most movies make a ton of money there first week, but it already made back half it's budget in one weekend, let's say 50% drop next week and then 25 the week after it will still make all it's money back before it even gets on DVD

As for PhillyCavs, I never knew that was the definition of a flop, but still you're calling it a "heavy flop" when part 1 only made 5 -6 million more :manny: opening weekend?

Yeah, shyt's ridiculous.

In another thread about big budget blockbusters, someone brought up how growing up, you'd have maybe 3-4 blockbusters. One Memorial Day, the 4th, and maybe on in between or closer to August. And maybe you'd have some surprise hits.

But now, it's way too many. You can't have 15-20 big budget movies in a year and not have some flop horribly.

2015 will be a fukking bloodbath.

Bond 24
Avatar 2
Finding Dory (Finding Nemo sequel)
Avengers 2
Pirates of the Carribean 5
Ted 2
Inferno (DaVinci Code series)
Ant-Man
Superman v. Batman
Prometheus 2
Hunger Games 3
WarCraft
Assassin's Creed
Inside Out (Pixar film)
Terminator 5
Alvin and the Chipmunks 4
Smurfs 3
Fantastic 4 reboot
Star Wars Episode VII
Jurassic Park 4
Independence Day 2
Crimson Peak (Guillermo del Toro ghost movie)
Kung Fu Panda 3
Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun
Mission Impossible 5
American Sniper (Movie about Chris Kyle, starring Bradley Cooper directed by Spielberg)
American Crow (QT movie)

:gladbron: 2015

:whoo:@ that list

On the same token, some will flop, but if we can get even 1 or 2 classics out the bunch, it'll be worth

What's surprising. The first one was vastly overrated and this one looked more of the same. No stars sans a washed jim Carrey who supposedly didn't promote (I could be wrong) and the previews rubbed ppl the wrong way in my opinion

It has to split revenue with Movie Theatres tho so even if DVD sales are good the movie will have lost between $15-$20 Million when it's all said & done...

2 Simple reason's why its not doing so well:

1. The edgy novelty from the first one has faded.
- It was cool and kinda caught us off guard in the first one. But now we already know what to expect.

2. The audience of this type of movie has shrunk( mainly due to point #1) and was already pretty small to begin with.
