We are desperately in need of a big man at the end of the rotation. Jason Collins knows Jason Kidd and he knows Garnett and Paul Pierce. He's still a decent team defender and he can serve as a sort of mentor to young cats like Mason Plumlee (who I like as a draft pick). There are legitimate basketball reasons for signing dude. Did being gay give him a media edge, yea a little but as a Nets fan, we could use him just as another 7 footer, especially since with the loss of Brook Lopez, Blatche and AK47 are basically splitting starters minutes and Garnett is getting heavy minutes too.
