Did I miss something in captain America 2? Why is that shyt getting so much love in here? I found that predictable ass movie average at best. I need somebody to explain.

honestly i thought it was the best supehero movie of the modern era. i'm talkin post x-men. cap 2 imo was that good. the standard for the genre moving forward.

first off, it captured the spirit and essence of it's character better than any other movie has since the original superman. unlike iron man who became robert downey jr, unlike thor who lost his helmet and all his nordic mystique, unlike batman who was no longer all knowing and all capable... captain america as he is in that movie was the way that character has always been conceived. when you watch that movie, you are watching a captain america adventure through and through. the colors are right, the feel is right... it is literally perfect.

second, the movie portrayed an ultimately righteous superhero. not a morally grey superhero, not an emotional superhero... but an actual superhero. the kind you looked up to as a kid. the kind that protects us from evil with his head held high and doesn't compromise in the name of injustice.

third, the story was socially and politically relevant but even more so because of captain america's obvious iconography and symbolism. this was a movie that preached peace and brotherhood among ourselves and ignoring the fabricated lines that divide us.

fourth, the action was insane. i mean every set piece fukkin delivers. cap may not be the most powerful superhero in movies today but holy shyt was it fun to see him in action. the filmmakers REALLY did a good job of translating cap's awesome physical feats on screen.

fifth, it was a WELL WRITTEN story. there are set ups, there are emotional beats, there's mystery, there's intrigue, there's humor, there's MOMENTS. unlike most superhero movies that share it's length this one did not feel like it was 45 minutes too long.

If you need someone to explain the movie wasn't great

when you surround the film with shyt movies like Iron Man and Thor CA:2 looks like gold
The movie didn't break any molds, it wasn't innovative at all it just didn't suck

Very true point here...I thought Capt. America 2 was good, but it was not some breathtaking classic like many here are talking...its just that the marvel movies have been seriously underwhelming and Capt 2 was a step abov and that's all...Capt. 2 is still not on X-men Days of Future Past level

1 I disagree with everything. Iron man didn't become Robert Downey jr, Robert Downey jr became iron man. Cap's portrayal ain't got shyt on wolverine. Not all the x men movies been good, but wolverines portrayal has always been top notch.

2. &3. When I was a kid I looked up to real nikka super heros, captain america was never one of them. Naw In all seriousness though I can't give them props for this. That's who he is.
4.:ehh:

5. This where I strongly disagree. There was no intrigue for me, there was no emotional beats, and I thought the shyt was lazy to be honest. Samuel Jackson dies, "really.. this is the route they going. I'm supposed to believe he's dead? " winter solider "of course that's his best friend" shyt was mediocre. I just really saw it as s tool to introduce new characters for the next movie. It's not even in contention as best super hero movie in the modern era.

I remember my first time seeing dark knight. shyt had me like:lupe: damn near the entire movie. I was in that theatre geeked. Captain america I damn near predicted everything that happened.
