Review: ‘The Leftovers’ is still TV’s best drama as season 2 begins

Was Season 1 polarizing? Definitely. But plenty of people appreciated it from the very beginning. I don't like to speak for people, but I'm pretty sure @Adam3000 wasn't being literal about it being cool to watch, hence the quotation marks. But he's right, in the midst of season 2, everyone "in the know" was singing the shows praises. To better make my point though, the "cool" show to watch nowadays(which was never polarizing) is Mr. Robot. Compare the ratings of both shows and you'll be surprised.
Okay if you want to get technical yes some did love the first season. I belive Sepinwall had it as his #1 of that year.. (as evidenced by one of your links).

Though if you wanna get even more technical, let's compare the metacritic scores.

S1: 65
S2:80
S3:98

Those are fukking leaps. And of course everyone was singing s2's praise. It was a flawless and epic season of television. It receive almost quadruple the amount of year end list praise. (8 vs 31)

And actually Mr robot was very polarizing for many in s2. Though oddly enough it got better reviews on the metacritic, but even Esmail himself has mentioned the mixed-negative reaction to season 2 on podcasts on multiple occasions.

This is evident on the lack of year end list love S2 had compared to s1. (5 vs 24)

Did you really use IGN in an argument though breh :lolbron:

I added IGN for a more mainstream source:pachaha:

There's no arguing that it was embraced exponentially more after each season, but I think that speaks to how polarizing the first season was. If you delve a little bit deeper into that Metacritic score you'll see that the first season had a 100 rating from one reviewer and a 25 from another:skip:That's about as polarizing as you can get. If you look at the scores in another way, the majority are positive, less than half are mixed, and a small minority are negative. I won't argue against the show being better received in following seasons (there's nothing to argue about that) or the following seasons being better, but the first season got its props from some and created a strong response (on both ends of the spectrum) from those who watched.

I'm interested in seeing how that first season's reception changes (if it does) as time goes on, new people are introduced to the series, and current fans revisit it.

This show is not really grabbing me I'm on season 2 episode 3.. I guess I just don't like the characters.. is there a prominent moment or event that stands out from the series in the future cause im about to stop watching this shyt.. too much weirdness and symbolic imagery that I don't really care too much about

If you don't like the characters there is no point in watching. It is the shows strong suit.
