So you're saying they are forgetting to update applicants? I think it's much more to ghosting than actually 'forgetting'. That doesn't even make sense.

HR follows instructions from the higher ups.
I don't know what they are doing. All I know is the point of contact is getting blame cuz that's who has been responding to my previous emails and stopped.

Took me 6 months to find a job after I was laid off, and I have a master's degree in engineering. Only reason I probably got my new job is because a guy I used to work with was in the team I applied to, completely by chance. He put in a great word for me because I helped him a lot at our old job.

Try to be cool with everyone you work with, you never know when you'll need their help in the future.

My girl had an interview with a major hospital in NY.

1. she did the first "pre interview" on Teams, they liked her and scheduled the 2nd interview
2. Days later she gets on the call, the manager doesn't show up, she sat there on webex alone for 30 minutes, sends them an email. The manager comes back the next day apologizing saying he didnt put it on his calendar, his kids, blah blah (major red flag)
3. scheduled the interview again a few days later, does the interview, they like her
4. she gets told they will send her some goofy "assignment" to work on, 90 minutes "honor system" , sh*t was like 10 pages, and that "dont worry this isnt graded"
5. she does it, sends it back, gets completely ghosted. She asks in the email to confirm they received it, nothing. They never got back to her confirming that they looked at it, nothing at all.

The whole thing was a waste of time and I was heated on her behalf, some of these interview processes make zero sense.

There's so much of this "ghosting" nonsense out here its ridiculous

HR is the recruiter that contacts you. And Yes I can blame them if they are they contact and stop responding to my emails. They are the ones that are supposed to keep me updated on what is going on

-Recruiting is a separate department from HR. People Operations includes HR and Recruiting.
-Recruiters don't owe candidates a response. It's nice when and if they respond to emails, but it's not worth their time with candidates the team doesn't want.
-"supposed to..." lol nobody owes you anything

You use prompts to just change wording based on copy pasting the job description?
1) Turn on the search button, you the post the job description
2) You attach a bunch of your resumes, eventually you will have a lot lol
3) You tell the AI to create you an ATS friendly and humanized resume catered for this job role.
4) this takes time but you will learn what AI tends to add, like the word ‘adept’ and ‘-‘ dashes. Remove these.

And that’s it
Always review what it created, because you have to keep it honest. Sometimes it will add things that you don’t have experience in.

t-dot till they bury me
Got laid off as a part of a mass restructuring a few months ago.
Job market is fukkin brutal AF
It was months of reading people on LinkedIn talking about how sending hundreds of resumes out there and never an interview even.
I'm talking specifically about the IT Job Market here.
I had no interviews for the first month, then I got one and I didn't do too well on the interview, I was rusty.
Then more interviews and I was getting better at them every week, it takes practice because the job market has changed.

Right now there is so much talent out there that companies now look for candidates that fit the job profile perfectly. Which I think is a stupid idea, it won't allow for much creativity always recycling the same type of people.
But what it meant was that every interview took way more preparation.

The other thing I learned is when companies ask you if you use AI, I thought they were asking and everyone shows that they did great work but AI helped them, so I thought the ideal answer was no.
But I later realized that I was wrong, no they want you to know AI.
If you don't know AI, you will be replaced. Because we are in a transition phase right now, AI is not ready to fully automate everything, but it can downsize teams and the remaining people will have to know AI to help them speed up projects or tasks.

Resumes that I was sending out was catered to the position, this sounds ridiculous but if you not doing that then you need to realize that everyone else is!
So if you applying to 10 different positions this week you need to create 10 new resumes.
And keep you resume concise, they getting hundreds and hundreds of resumes, so they will skim over it.
Also you need to make your resume ATS friendly. This is a big one.
An ATS-friendly resume is designed to be easily read and processed by an AI App called 'Applicant Tracking Systems' (ATS), which most employers use now because of the sheer number of applicants to screen job applications. This type of resume typically features a simple layout, clear section headings, and includes relevant keywords from the job description to improve the chances of being noticed by recruiters. A few hundreds of resumes won't even be read by a human, it will be read by AI.

It is a fully remote position so i'm happy about that, but it was a brutal couple of months.
If you in that position hang in there, I wish I read what I just wrote when I got laid off, so I thought to create this thread.
Alot of my friends in tech are also in the same boat, a few of them it's been over a year and they haven't found anything yet and they are very good at what they do.
This is astute advice breh
Congrats on landing a new job
Make your money :blessed:

The fukk they don't. If they are a part of the company they do. I was already two interviews deep and that's my time and the company's reputation on the line. We ain't talking no temp agencies here

Just happened to me all of last month.

I'm talking about being offered a job, checking my email for an actual letter and then zero contact on all platforms.

Different markets, too. I guess this ghosting is just a thing to do at the moment
It's an employers market.

Cost of everything is going up exponentially, they know you need to eat so the courtesy drops.

What are you gonna do about it?
