@Pegasus Jackson I gave it a thorough listen. My findings:
- he mentioned tattooed tears in 1991
- classic beats - I mean CLASSIC BEATS!
- " Scandalous bytches make for happy feds" - holy shyt! Again 1991
- giving up the nappy dugout - warning to everyone - don't wife a problem girl
- themes of safe sex
- actually happy, cool sounding record
- smart, truthful with what to really deal with
- motivating
- true to the game - talks some serious business...in fukking '91!
- "died young doing dumb shyt" - fukking Cube man

Bird in the hand is about working hard - not being able to find a decent paying job.
Looking for a break - talking cocaine.

This may sound stupid but I want clarification if someone can confirm.

Was "bird in the hand is better than a bush"
A direct metaphor essentially flipping that quote and stating making it big with a "bird" - kilo of cocaine - is better than dealing with what "Bush" - as in George Bush - the presiding President at that time - is giving us? - is that what was accepted as what he meant?

And the NWA diss at the end.

Telling Dre to stick to producing.

I personally love Dr. Dre rapping. But on Rattatattat I didn't like his verse it sounded lazy.

It pisses me off that Dre pulled back from rapping. But hearing Ice Cube say that? To Dre?

fukkING OOOUUCCCHHHH!

That must have hurt.

fukk.

I'm sure Ice Cube didn't mean it.

fukk!

Classic album.. One of favorites.. Wat took u so long?

It's my fault. I was born in 1981 and was 10 when it came out and I was into rap.

I do know alot of Ice Cube from NWA, Wicked, Serial Killaz, Good day.

But never got around to sitting down and giving this a thorough listen.

I recently heard Dr. Dre's cut from Chronic Ho Hopper. That track - the vibe had me go out looking for that particular West coast sound. "1992 Dr.Dre" which defines west coast Dre to me.

So I finally checked Death Certificate.
I feel like a complete idiot.

I like this breh, listening to the classic you aint never heard and giving your thoughts on it.

Dap + Rep:obama:

@OGBIGBOY187 thank you.

Alot of gangster rap was fabricated. There's so much truth on this record.
For those who have been around that activity.

And let's remember - Ice Cube is a multi millionaire now. Death Certificate sold millions, went platinum.

Which proves you can be a GREAT artist - really dope. Certified and still make millions.

He even talks about this on true to the Game - making money without having to "Sell out".

Ice Cube :hhh:

Thanks. Ya man. Rap excited and scared me back then. Now at 38 I analyze it.

I didn't hear Amerikkkas most wanted yet - other than the Who's the Mack video - classic.

Elp commented on that album and said it inspired early Company Flow sound cause it was "noisey" can't wait to hear it!

It's like I'm finding money discovering Ice Cube's classic work.

One of my top 3-5 albums in rap

And his best album. Cube is a G.O.A.T. who is getting overlooked in time.

As much as I love Cube though I've always had a hard time digesting Americas most wanted. I didn't like him over bomb squad. :manny:

I listen from Kill at Will EP then jump right to Death Certificated.

Breh, a bird in hand is better than two in the bush is an old idiom. Ice Cube didn't make that up.

It means its better to focus on what you actually have vs what you MIGHT have.

Yes I know that. You are right.

But what about relating it to those times?

Bird - Kilo
Bush - George Bush

That makes complete sense. I don't know if he actually meant that as well, I thought of it, or people thought of that before as well.

He even defines bird as Coke and mentions George Bush in the track.

It has to be what he meant.
