Man, I just got finished re-playing Serious Sam: The Second Encounter and SiN.
Was about to fire-up Half Life and saw this thread.
I LOVE FPS games with puzzles almost as much as MMORPGS and JRPGS.
What engine you using and how many weapons (if any)? How much time is someone expected to put into it? Save points or Ironman? Boss fights?
Anyhow, keep it up, breh..............
Appreciate it, bro..
The game will have the 9mm Beretta, Uzi, M16, Shotgun.
Well, it's hard to gauge how much time players will spend on levels solving puzzles.. Everyone's critical thinking skills are different. Some have better skills than others. So i gauge playtime by how long it takes me, the game's creator, to beat it. Whatever time I get, i will double for regular users who don't already know everything. So I'm trying to make my playtime around 5hrs... So for players, that would be 10.
I want to sell the game for $4.99 on steam. Hopefully 10 hours is a good playtime for that cost.
I was thinking ironman at first, but that wouldn't be in the spirit of tomb raider; one of the only saving graces for an excruciating level was the ability to save where you wanted Tomb Raider II. So I wanted to also give the player some sort of relief... That podium with the book you saw in the trailer is called a "save spot" where you can save your game. They are strategically placed around levels, so there's a challenge in trying to reach a save spot before dying.
There will definitely be boss fights. I've got a couple good ones in mind.
