Never appealed to me.All the females in my family watch that shyt religiously, though.

This shyt and Love And Basketball.........Females have a cult following for them shyts

Funny thing is I REALLY Like the black films of that little era. Black directors, black screenwriters, and black actors portraying black characters as intelligent, funny, ambitious, and down to earth. Wasn't no stereotyping, c00ning, violence or bulshyt. Movies like The Best Man, The Wood, Love & Basketball, Brown Sugar, The Brothers, even some of the sillier stuff like Two Can Play That Game I'd take ANY DAY of the week over a some Tyler Perry bullshyt

Spoken by the GOAT poster lately... :wow:

The Wood is a classic to me, the only flaw was they expected us to believe Melinda Williams will grow up to look like Sanaa Lathan. But for some reason, critics really aren't fukking with it :yeshrug:

So thats when I say fukk critics. It seems the only high/decent rated Black movies deal with the same themes

Black on black violence (Boyz N The Hood, Menace II Society)
Black overcoming Poverty/Slavery (The Color Purple, The Help, 12 Years A Slave)

We got all these talented Black actors that just can't get the material outside that lane. Look at Chiwetal Ejifor.. fantastic actor, his performance in 12 Years A Slave will probably get him his first Oscar nom. Michael K Williams ain't bad either, Michael B Jordan doing his thing, he might get that nom for Fruitvale Station but still.

Imagine a movie like Inception but with a all Black Cast... will it be accepted. If the plot was the same, same dialogue and everything but with black actors will the movie still be positively received by Critics?

I salute Monique for winning that Oscar, she deserved but that movie just serves the point I'm getting at.. a movie about Black problems same as usual.

I had hope in Tyler Perry, but his shyt got old fast. After Family Reunion I was done with him. For Colored Girls had good performance but the plot was weak too melodramatic and to me he didn't seem to grasp the poetic excellence in the poem the movie was based off.

The Best Man is just Black Excellence and drama. I swear just hate Black movies that have successful Black characters. If my fiancee wants to go see it, so be it :yeshrug:

She does damn near every thing I ask her to, what kind of man would I be if I can't take my woman out to enjoy a movie for once?
Plus I liked the first one so shyt, I don't mind.

I know we had a solid run of quality black films going for that short window of time. Then Tyler Perry c00nery and Soul Plane/ the Cookout filth started taking over and it's been a wrap ever since :snoop:

I tell you what happened....

Spike Lee gave up
:to:

Spike Lee never gave up the powers that be won't fund his shyt. He's been trying to make a Joe Louis biopic for the past 15 years but can't get funding. There was supposed to be a sequel to Inside Man that never got green-lit. He was supposed to direct the James Brown biopic that's coming out but got dropped in favor of that Flaming fakkit Lee Daniels the walking c00n.....

The only movies they'll allow Spike to make with any type of real fukking budget are Cac films now. He can't make a Joe Louis film but he can make a film based upon a Korean movie which itself was based upon a Manga about a Man fukking his own daughter :snoop:

A Goddamn shame considering Spike Lee was THE best black director/screenwriter of his heyday. The amount of classics he's made, the careers he's launched. Spike is too goddamn under appreciated man. shyt makes me sick to my stomach to think that we went from Malcolm X and Mo Better Blues to fukking Madea Goes To Jail and The Butler as highlights of African America cinema. Disgusting :scusthov:
