Are yall this dense? Stern wasn't actually accusing Rome of beating his wife, that's why he didn't answer that question. Stern was accusing Rome of asking a ridiculous and unfair question. The exact question Stern asked is a specific & recycled idiom like question. The question wasn't literal but figurative.
do you fell better now? okay go read the post I was quoting the phrase "it was a loaded question that rome couldnt answer either way" was the impetus behind my post. Not the spirit behind stern's motives for saying it in the 1st place. So go kick some rocks

stern still dodged the question though.....seemed like a valid question to me

How did he dodge the question if he said no?

What makes it a valid question?

So David, we have no proof that the lotto is fixed, it's been explained many times, how the lotto process works, that you have an outside accounting firm conduct the lotto, members of the media, and a rep from each lotto team present during the actual drawing, but I have to ask you, is it fixed?

Actually Rome said he expected Stern to give a reponse like this because many are ignorant of these facts and alot of people think it's valid to believe that the Lotto could be fixed. The questions being asked are for the benefit of the audience not the host. It was an opportunity for Stern to squash the foolish notion on a large platform.

There's no way to squash it though.

People in this thread are saying that Stern are avoiding the question even though he clearly said no and stated that people would say it was fixed regardless of who won.

Even if it's on TV, you won't believe it. If you believe that David Stern will risk jail time, lawsuits, and an enormous stain on the NBA brand to hand a #1 pick to a needy team of his choice, you're going to blame trick photography or something else like that if it's on television.

Look how many people would be in on it and have to keep quiet. What if the New Orleans owner came back next year and said "give me the #1 pick again or I'll tell everyone you gave it to me last year" What happens if the Bulls, Magic, and Cavs owners do the same thing?

I caught a minute of the Rome show today or yesterday. Rome said exactly what I thought he would say. That he was simply tossing a softball out for Stern to knock out the park. I don't know why Rome is appeasing his clones by entertaining that conspiracy when he admitted he didn't believe the lottery was fixed. He didn't believe it, he knows damn sure Stern doesn't believe it or would never admit it either way.

Just like that Lakers vs Thunder semis game in OKC, they try to get Artest to speak on his elbow to Harden during a locker room interview. There's NOTHING he can say, no matter how diplomatic, mature or sincere, that would make people say "you know, I think Ron Ron gets a bad rap."

he risked all that with tim and the corrupt refs

the last 3 #1 picks have gone to teams that all had drama the previous season. They should show it all on tv, with the teams GM right next to stern watching the whole shyt go down.

I'm pretty sure those other teams involved are doing their due diligence in all of this. I don't know what the current procedures are with who is in there actually overseeing the process but for those 14 lottery teams that have MILLIONS of dollars on the line, I can safely assume that they have a little more insight to the process than we do. The risks of fukking up the draft process is so huge. Like I said, there would be a huge blackmail opportunity for the teams that are in on it and they could all end up in jail.

Tim and the corrupt refs is another issue entirely. If refs want to read between the lines and give a little boost to one of the big market teams, that's on them. If the refs that do a good job of calling it that way have a higher probability of getting playoff assignments in the future, they'll act accordingly. That's what Donaghy alluded to and I don't really doubt that it happened. What I disagree with is the bullshyt people bring up that when Durant doesn't get a call late in a game, that Stern actively made a call for it. It doesn't work that way. These refs aren't getting letterheads from the league office telling them to make sure one team wins. That's their own call and I'm sure Vegas is a MUCH bigger influence than David Stern and the tv executives anyway.

i remember Kahn was complaining about the draft last yr, so i think shyt still goes down behind the scenes.

i only brought up the refs because you said stern wouldnt risk rigging the draft and I think he would because he allowed corrupt refs to officiate games.
