There were gentlemen born within that time frame who were once considered of the "real" category by peers and other associates. These so called "real" gentlemen faced a demise at a young age due to the criminal activity and other ignorance facilitated in their turbulent lifestyles.

Prior to Chief Keef, there existed other individuals whom; collectively, were about said life, however these individuals have since perished.

Keef and all the OFT/GBE/300 movement is BDN, they are on some GDK shyt heavy right now. GDs are on some everybody killa shyt including other GDs.

And to think that Hoover had these nikkas marching for votes and raking in (pun intended) $100M + a year. In the 'As Is' Hoover doc it showed a statistic that the GD enterprise would have been in the top 20% of Fortune 500 companies (obviously they aren't eligible for consideration lol)

But what happend? Is this generation to smart and wild to be tamed, or is this the effect of the lack of old heads who are now either in dead or in jail.

I remember ready the underground street magazines and It seemed like they were very organized and collected at one time.

Few different factors...as far as the GDs, they're 25,000-30,000 deep in the City easily. That's an enormous mob and could only be controlled by someone like Hoover, who had specific members on his Board of Directors

Back in 95, the Feds busted up the GDs, federally charging 39 of the highest ranking members and Hoover. Hoover was in a state penitentiary in IL giving written orders and holding meetings, etc. After the conviction he was moved to the Supermax ADX joint in Colorado w/ no contact w/ the outside world.

This meant that 30,000 soldiers in the streets now didn't have their leader or 39 of their commanding officers. In any organization, not having central leadership and organization is going to lead to splintering. Younger dudes stopped paying dues, stopped w/ traditions, rules, issuing violations, started using drugs, snitching, not taking care of snitches w/in the mob etc. The arrests/convictions also meant that no one was willing to 'step up' and become a leader b/c the feds were watching. Renegade sets were formed and large territories splintered into block to block wars over turf.

Around the same time as the Federal probe, Chicago Housing Authority was taken over by the Federal Gov't and ordered to tear down the high-rise projects. There was something like 60 high-rise project buildings across the city, including Robert Taylor which was the largest housing project in the world until it was torn down. This meant that gangs from the projects were moved into the streets, and these streets already had gangs and even if they were GDs these guys on the streets already had their groove and they weren't about to share it w/ guys from the projects that just moved into their hood b/c the buildings were down. Causing more friction.

Back in the day we'd cop from the 4848 building in Robert Taylor for cheap thrills and the lobby was always pitch black and you could make out figures lurking in the shadows and shyt...you'd get patted down/searched before you'd be allowed to pass. I remember hitting those stairwells and being mobbed by shorties tangling bags of work in my face. Once a couple plain clothes officers caught me and my boy walking down the stairwell and checked my dude into the wall, searched him, found the bag, gave it back and told us to GTFO of there now. :sadcam:

Most/All the big gangs in the city have splintering and renegade factions but the GDs have the least loyalty and the most splintering.
