there is blame for both the WWE and Punk on this but after a full year he went from the hottest character to just a guy holding the strap for somebody else

who's to blame?

HHH for cutting him off at his legs right away

Punk morphing into this pg tattoo cena

Punk vs Laurinaitis somehow tuned into Cena vs Laurinaitis

the whole aj actually started out interesting but of course went no where

this forced heel turn doesn't make much sense its obvious he's just gonna lose to Rock and we will have Cena vs Rock 2....and than back to the midcard for punk

its safe to say the revolution will not be televised :snoop:

punk is not a mainevent material. summer 2011 storyline could happen to any other wrestler. so punks push didn't fukked up, punk and wwe fukked up when decided to push him. his ok wrestler, but his place is in upper-mid card with some main event feuds (like Y2J), but not THE main event

He became a phony onscreen but the fans don't want to call him out on it and that's why he's like this smiling slick talking character he is today. He was thinking on his feet last summer and being creative when it was necessary. He's definitely coasting now but there's a bigger push behind him.

yeah, bullshyt. no other wrestler at that time could have pulled off the infamous shoot promo. THAT'S why he's where he is. he was given the opportunity and blew the doors down with it.

CM Punk fukked CM Punk's push. He's just not a crossover guy, plain and simple. He doesn't have mass appeal.

So you're saying all the media that he was doing, GQ features that no wrestler had really gotten before, all of that meant nothing? C'mon man...

It all starts with that post-Summerslam angle with Triple H. Hottest guy they have in years and they make him look like a whiny bytch against Hunter. Then Hunter beats him with no retibution in sight, followed by Punk sucking up to him and getting pinned in 2 more PPV matches.

:mindblown: Say what you will about Punk himself, but what moron books the hottest guy they've had in like 8 years like this?

It was a worked shoot though...he played everyone perfectly and it got him over on an astronomical level in the aftermath. He was doing alot of whining in interviews around the same timeframe. The wrestling fanbase is very gullible and that whole "shoot" pretty much proved it. In the end, he talked alot and didn't do what he said he was gonna do. "Make things fun. Interesting again." It was still all about John Cena and he played second fiddle the whole way.

And the Nexus stuff the year before was almost as hot as the Punk angle but they blew that big time just so Cena could get his meaningless revenge and it set Barrett back two years.

The Triple H thing slowed him down but he did it to himself by being corny as hell after turning face and not delivering on anything he was preaching about. Everyone expected him to at least bring something new to the table and instead they got more of the same shyt.

All that talk about changing the WWE and bringing back innovative angles went out the window once he got settled into that new contract he was holding out for

From a storyline stand point, they had him come back too soon.

i agree a 100% they could of carried that shyt on for at-least a month but HHHHHHHH needed to make sure we know who's boss
