that is not a prison mentality, not sure why you think it is exclusive to prison
The church has the potential to be the strongest part of the community, but in my experience that is usually not the case. I will say that I have seen the power a Church (Christians) can have when they pool resources on a small scale (Health fairs, community outreach, voting parties) I feel that there are too many though, and can leech off the community rather than help it in certain cases (city/urban churches)
