Truth in red
Maaaan, this whole thing is so transparent it isnt even funny.
See, in order for you younger dudes to understand whats really happening here, you need greater context on just exactly WHO dream Hampton is
..
dream hampton is the Corrine Steffans of hip-hop journalism. Period.
Most journalists are the Corrine Steffans of journalism. They work freelance and do stints at whichever publication is offering to pay the most. Even editors rarely stay in one place for long.
See, journalists are tasked with being objective in order to capture the facts of the story. dream hampton hasnt been objective a day in her sorry ass life. This bytch is a CAREER groupie, and particularly a Jay-Z groupie.
Anybody naive enough to expect objectivism from any journalist talking about any issue is a fukking fool.
So for people to feel like Nas has dropped a gem with Life Is Good, and then questioning why Jay cant do the same, it forced this bytch to throw back on her cape and come to his rescue. Long story short, she caught feelings because Jay is her dawg. And if you know dream hamptons history, she has ALWAYS been anti-Nas, and showed her true colors during the Nas/Jay beef.
Life Is Good has nothing to do with this. Hasn't been mentioned by anybody in all this. She may be a Jay stan but no less than she is a Nas stan. From an article written in 96

Quote
Introducing my newborn to hip-hop has been a real struggle. Mostly it makes her cry a lot. Which is often my response exactly, so I persist. My first mistake: Ultramagnetic MCs Critical Beatdown. I figured Kool Keith shared some of her doe-eyed fascination, plus he possesses an insatiable appetite for nursery rhymes, but alas, the shallow sonics turned her off. The Chronic and Doggystyle soothed her; Dres steady bass probably reminded her of my heartbeat while the melodic overtones were reassuring. She began to find her center.
So I figured she was ready for Illmatic. And while she seemed to prefer the mellifluous sounds submitted by producers Tip and Extra P, I was basically back at square one. I looked at her like she was a stranger. What part of me wasnt in love with Nas? Hes easily one of the most important writers of the century and the only genius Ive ever seen in concert. I had to remember this motherhood thing is also about patience. It Was Written was a godsend----the lyrics are printed on the back. So I read them to her every night, placing my own gentle pressure on his verbs so they flow like a lullaby...
I mean, this filthy slore has written for almost every major rap publication in history, at one time or another
..and could never stay employed in one place because she always wears out her welcome and eventually burns bridges with the other staff writers because of her tactics. Oh sure, she CALLS herself a freelance journalist and will argue that she never worked on staff for any rap publications because freelancing is better for her, but the truth is, other writers cant stand this chick and the way she goes about getting stories. So now we gon act like Reginald Dennis (former editor of The Source) didnt catch flack for calling her out back in the day on her journalistic integrity for her using her friendships with rappers to get stories? We gon act like she didnt try to do this SAME THING to Tupac to disparage HIM during the B.I.G./Pac beef because she was close friends with B.I.G. (she was one of the MAIN journalists to imply that Pac was raped in prison)?
Already addressed this. Any journalist worth their salt uses their connections to get stories. Not sure how this is supposed to be seen as a bad thing. Every publication ran a story on the Pac controversy, she never asserted anything for certain. Again, relevance?
See, this is the problem
.these young stupids (AS USUAL) dont have any historical context and, therefore, theyll believe anything theyre told.
The problem is these old guys think they can embellish facts and nobody will call them out on it. Some of us young stupids do our homework.
So for dudes to be in here saying shes a credible journalist and wouldnt be saying this otherwise because her reputation is on the line
, you clearly dont know this broads history. This raggedy-mouthed c*nt been ostracized from the hip-hop journalist community a LOOOONG ass time ago.
The Hip-hop journalism community ceased to exist in any meaningful way a decade ago. She wasn't ostracized. It just stopped mattering and she, like most others, moved on.
