Italy invading Greece during WW2 was the biggest fukk up because the Greeks actually resisted for 6 months and it fukked up the entire timeline. Mussolini is basically why Nazis lost the war

The whole thing was weird. Russia either didn't want smoke or thought Germany was really gonna be satisfied with the rest of Europe. Allies had been warning them for awhile and Germany had been moving troops to Poland under the guise of "training excercises" , still Stalin turned a blind eye.

Funny how Hitler hated communism, but his actions basically gave Stalin the Baltics and whole Soviet block in the end.

It was a blunder of historical proportions. Germans had amassed a 3 million man army along the Soviet border which is the equivalent distance from Miami Florida to Boston.

Stalin did not turn a blind eye. He needed time and he was convinced that the non-aggression pact was enough to buy him time. Plus, a lot of his spies told him that there was no preparation for an offensive since no winter gear was being prepared, and they were right. Hitler thought that Brarbarosa will be done before the winter kicks in.

shyt is really crazy when you think about it. he could've kept all of western europe to himself. remember at the time lot of people in the US really didnt want to jump in. wasn't until pearl harbor that US committed.

but at the end of the day, the US would've eventually bodied the germans if they remained at odds. the problem the germans had was that they didn't have the capability to strike at US manufacturing. a german panther tank may be worth 2-3 shermans, but when the US replaces one with 10 additional, impossible to counter. then once the US got the bomb it was over with.

people dont realize bc we focus so much on japanese bombing, just how thoroughly the allies destroyed germany. british bomber fleets of literally thousands of planes destroyed targets during night, then the US would swing by in broad daylight

I went to a castle in Würzburg Germany and they have pictures of how bombed out the area was after the war and it is astonishing to see how completely flattened the city was and how they’ve built it back up.
