I think brehs need to state their stance on the goal.
Do you actually believe Kyrie's acquisition WILL mean a future championship within the next 5 years?
If not, do you actually believe Kyrie's acquisition will keep us competitive enough to provide enjoyable playoff series that'll leave lasting memories?
If not, then, do you believe that he'll be a piece that will be good to build around and the sacrifice of picks won't hurt the rebuild that will still be needed when he's here?
State your stance so brehs can't backtrack later.
I just need competitive ball. So, I want him, but I want Frank and I don't think we are being realistic about how other team offers will force is to give up the farm.
We do have the leverage in the sense that LeBron is not going to be okay with just young pieces. He wants another crack at the finals THIS YEAR.
So a Melo and incentives might be pressured to be taken by Bron if Melo is okay with it.
Melo can opt out next year too so even if LEbron leaves, he wouldn't be stick in Cleveland.
Honestly I look at Kyrie as a rebuilding piece. No, I don't think he turns the team into a contender by himself, what turns the team into a contender is his continued excellence and KP's development, and I think we're still a couple of years away from KP starting to scratch his ceiling. So what I would be hoping for is that whatever picks the Knicks trade away are lottery protected, and that the Knicks are still bad enough at the end of next year to still get a lottery pick to add to the core. If the Knicks do fall outside of the lottery though, then that means the players are becoming very good at a rapid pace, and I wouldn't miss a pick outside of the lottery all that much in that case; with a young, successful team that has room to grow, you can actually go into free agency and try to recruit someone, because unlike most seasons prior, you have something solid to sell players on. I don't want the Knicks to take two steps back just to take one step forward with Kyrie, so whether I'm happy with a trade for Kyrie and how I think it effects the rebuild depends on what the Knicks trade away, until then I can't totally judge anything.Needless to say I want this trade to happen.... just as long as the price is right.
