Seems like there's a good chance Melo is on the team next year; I don't see how you trade away Melo and not take back a garbage contract or two in the process, just for the sake of matching up salaries. Now the question is, how many wins can a Frank/THjr/Melo/KP/Willy line-up get? Some decent offensive firepower there, but Frank is a rookie and the rest are pretty bad defenders, save for KP who's just decent despite his potential.

I've tried to stay away from this Page until this Melo deal was resolved but as it looks he'll be staying put for the time being. I'd rather keep melo than get scraps back from him, especially ryan fukkin Anderson who has just as bad or worse contract than Melo. Plus if Melo really wants to win within the next few yrs, he has a player option next season, he better opt out and take MLE to play with Cavs or follow bron where he goes.

But to your question, if everyone stays healthy and we play Hornacek ran offense, I don't see how this team can't win atleast 40 games. Defense will be an issue but we'll have no problems putting up points. With 40 wins, we should easily get a 7th or 8th spot which means a first round sweep to the cavs or Celtics. So is it really worth making the playoffs? of course in the long run it's fukkin stupid when we should be rebuilding, but i'm sure half the knicks fans would love us to make the playoffs.

Um...we're not. Team is too talented to tank as presently constituted.

This is KP's third year he's bound for a breakout season, Melo is still on the team, Lee is still on the team, THJ improved our bench dramatically, Willy getting PT off rip, Frank should be a contributor on defense at least in his rookie year, Kuz year 2 in America, healthy LT going into the year. Still in market for another PG too.

No way is this a 25 win team, we won 31 games with injuries and some of the worst luck I've seen down the stretch of games giving up game winners.

This is all that needed to be said.

Succinct and to the point.

Regardless, we are going to be a developing team.

True but a Knicks "developing" team without Carmelo isn't worth being TV (aside from hardcore Knicks fans who will watch regardless) unless both Frank and KP have monster seasons.

Melo makes the Knicks still one of the biggest draws in the NBA whether he's playing well or like trash.

I don't think anyone outside of NYC would be excited for a line up of

Frank
Hardaway Jr
Random Player
KP
WILLY

These are all guys casual fans don't like can know exist

Knicks will make the playoffs with dis roster
Especially with bulls pacers and the hawks all taking step backs
Even without melo, dis team is too talented to be at the bottom of the barrell

Knicks are dumb for throwing away their last two lottery positions trying hard over meaningless games

I could watch Carmelo on the Knicks for the next 50 years, Breh.

I like him that much.

I don't think people outside of NY have cared about watching NY bball in years, regardless.

They'll talk shyt anout New York...they love doing that, but they aren't interested in watching.

I think the Garden will still sell out with or without Melo.

Idk all those young guys getting heavy minutes at the same time..... I expect a lot of game losses as they "develop" similar to last year's lakers who were also a young team.

Young in the west

Cavs
Celtics
Washington
Toronto
Bucks

There are three spots wideeee open

Plus, by the looks of things, we are coming back with essentially the same team which helps chemistry wise and we are actually gonna be playing in a system that doesnt make everyone suck

The east is too bad for us to be bottom of the barrell
