I’ve spun this record about 8-9 times this week and for me it’s gets better with each listen.

People that hate this album probably won’t change their mind. I find a lot of replay value in this album that I haven’t found with other projects in more than a few years.

Time will treat this album well IMO.

There's tracks on here that I do like but I disagree with this take because you can make an album that incorporates the sounds of your best work and the region's heyday while ALSO sounding like it was made in 2025.... and we know that because that's what Kendrick just did with 'GNX'

It tears at his soul. he's probably going back in hiding for at least 5 years.
Maybe he goes into the mythical "vault" and puts out a deluxe with the "golden beats" that are supposedly in there. That hit boy produced song someone posted in here is what I was kinda expecting the sound of this album to be. It ain't about being stuck in the 90s. You can expand on your og style it doesn't have to sound the same as 93 but it could have at least some lineage to that original sound we fell in love with. Songs with Sting and Tom Petty is not what a 46 yr old Snoop Dogg fan wants to hear from a long awaited Snoop and Dre reunion....Man just let Daz and Warren G produce him, Fred Wreck, Dam Funk etc., they've all made better music with Snoop over the last 25 years. You mean to tell me wasn't no unreleased Nate Dogg vocals laying around. Snoop is rapping good on this album whether he wrote his rhymes or not, the production on this album is what kinda sucks about it. I don't give a flying fukk about the mixing and mastering, if the beats are "delicate"

That Top Dogg vs Last Meal thread by my pawgin homie @I love Latina women got me thinking....as much as I fukks with the album, this probably ranks very mid in his discography, not even top 10 (which says a lot about how much I fukks with Snoops albums).

Doggystyle
Doggfather
Top Dogg
Last Meal
Paid the Cost
R&G
Blue Carpet
Ego Trippin
7 Days of Funk
Neva Left
Back on my Death Row shyt

Are all albums I'd easily rank over Missionary, which is at least a 7.5 for me.

Good insight as to why the album isn’t as we would like it to be.

Snoop / Dre (and of course Jimmy Iovine) probably don’t want cancel culture to affect their future money making ability.

Never thought of that for some reason. Don’t know why as it’s so obvious once someone points it out,

You could never go wrong with Snoop and Dre, so I have to give this a listen later, too, just for the nostalgic vibes these two have together.

However, I do recognize that Snoop hasn't exactly had a good album in a long time; he's kinda like Ice Cube in that they're both Hip-Hop vets releasing music over the past decade, and then some, but the majority of that hasn't been very good.

I stopped checking for Cube albums a long time ago because he just sounds awful with terrible beats, I've felt similarly with Snoop but I've honestly never listened to Snoop's discography in full like some of y'all have so I just assumed most of his stuff after Last Meal besides singles wasn't worth checking out, that's something I gotta do one day, go through his entire catalog.
