Replace J Lo with Amy Winehouse circa 2006 or Christina Agulara who who are cacs and nobody would complain because they know they would have brought that soul to the music and they weren't generic pop artist

Put any swagless/souless black artist up there and there'd be the same type of blacklist.


Overall it's got nada to do with her being Latina

the singers of the songs faced segregation, so for them to be whitewashed made people extra agitated
and for some segments her background dancers/singers were also non-black. i think Aguilera, Adele and Whinehouse would at least include black dancers/singers

a good example of how this wouldn't fly in other communities was the beyonce backlash when she performed at those country music awards. she performed her own dang song, and those white folks were like "hell no"
