Man smart guy wasnt even funny to me when it was airing. Most of those disney sitcoms were corny if we being real. Smart guy is nowhere near martin or living single tier of sitcoms. I would put it in the same tier as the wayans bros which was weak compared to most back in the day. bmw was funny to me most of the time. A better argument would probably be something like a different world or something in comparison. I would put a different world over boy meets world but not smart guy lol.

You obviously didn't watch Smart Guy. It was far from corny. BMW had far more corn. Smart Guy was way more edgier and funny. Marcus trying get everyone out the house for the evening so he can fukk the school ho.

I hate to be cliche but to me, Smart Guy was the funnier show(Marcus and Mo are better duel than Corey and Shawn comedy wise) but WMB was the better show. It has humor, drama, life lessons. My favorite era is the Mr. Turner hs era.

plenty of life lessons in smart guy as well.

just because smart guy wasn't sappy and emo, it doesn't mean that it didn't have any substance.

btw, a lot of the life lessons in BMW came mad late in the game. like "yall just now learning this??".

Marcus and Mo had their own story arcs. I was hesitant to watch the show because I thought it was just a lil kid show but my homie convinced me to give it a chance because it really wasn't.

After Will and Carlton, Marcus and Mo are arguably the 2nd greatest comedic duo in TV sitcom history...right there with Gus and Shawn and Turk and JD. Corey and Shawn are up there but Eric stole the show in the later seasons.

yea, I used to drag my feet watching it because it was promoted as a primetime kiddie show. luckily it was in the middle of a WB primetime lineup, as opposed to being on it own island.

once you get into the swing of it, you see that its really an urban teen show. the GOAT urban teen sitcom.
especially when you get to the point where TJ is just one of the fellas and no longer an annoying kid trying to adjust to high school.

I think it didn't click with a lot of people until recent years in syndication. I didn't fully appreciate its greatness until then myself. in the '90s, it was just another good show with a great duo in marcus n mo.
but once you get to binge-watching those marathons in syndication, you start to appreciate just how truly great that show was from top-to-bottom.
coincidentally, they would have their 2 hour blocks, right alongside "boy meets world" on MTV2 Saturday mornings. that's how I know for sure that its better than "boy meets world".

Boy Meets World bc it ran longer and had a complete journey of Corey growing up. Smart Guy got cut too early I'm rewatching now , 2nd episode is the school break in to switch the rival high school team grades - talk about a strong start
