I think Kanye was just saying that his ancestors were an embarrassment for not mustering a siginificant rebellion or opposition for 400 years, on some you'd rather live as slaves then die free.

The fact that performance art is supposed to be "better" to some of you is astounding. That makes all of this so much worse. At the end of this performance, when he stands up and gets his round of applause from twitter intellectuals and yes men, what will he have to say to the hundreds of thousands of people who have been impacted by this rhetoric that he's help spread? To me, it sounded as if he was saying slavery was 246 years, not 400 so why are we still talking about it when we could be filling kids heads with other things. Why are we putting Harriet Tubman on the 20 dollar bill to remind us of our oppression instead of Jordan or George Washington Carver to remind us of our achievements.
