One is a line from a movie script that was probably revised a hundreds times to sound dope and the other is just some off the cuff rambling. They both mean the same thing to me which is two nikkas saying shyt without really understanding what it is that they're saying.

Your ancestors jumped from the ships to escape bondage because they were stolen away from their homeland and witnessed horrific shyt. You were going to be put into "bondage" because you started a civil war and tried to start WW3 in your first 3 days as king. That's a false equivalence of circumstances. One is escaping hell and the other is escaping consequence. A tyrant equating himself to a helpless slave.

Lupe's comments cover a lot of the fukked up shyt that happened in order maintain the system. To say that slavery was a choice would suggest there were other real options. The craziest part of all this nonsense is that the guy who was broken mentally by the tragic loss of his mother and never recovered is one trying to kick some "why didn't they just fight back?" shyt.

There were nikkas rising up both violently and non violently. There was no be a slave or cease to exist. The most read story to slaves was exodus for christs sake. I dont blame my ancestors for choosing to be a slave, the risk of freedom for most was far to high. But fact is, they chose it. Atleast the ones that understood freedom should be a possibility for them. Nothing wrong with admitting that.

Ive always been able to separate the person from his art (I like Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, etc.), but Kanye has gone too far; I can’t seperate is actions from his art anymore.

I’ll admit, I thought he was trolling when this crazy talk first started, but I don’t think that anymore. Kanye is using his platform to spew vile, hateful, stupid rhetoric.
