From my experience all the Ethiopians/Eritreans I've met say they are not "Black American", but say they are Black in a sense of African lineage and decedents of Ancient Kemet
I don't think they have a connection to the term "Black People". The term Black is relatively a newer term compared to older cultures. Like for instance the term "Moor" was the term for a Black Person 500+ years ago before USA ever existed
