I'm younger than you but I vaguely recall seeing this I don't understand.

This is like that Chik-Fil-A vs Chick-Fil-A situation

I think what it is is he was popular at that time and doing alot of kids movies he even had that show on the Disney Channel then people remember alot of Genie stuff from that type and our minds play tricks on us as a result.

I swear I remember that shyt as a kid and the Shaq movie. My mother was heavy into church so Sinbad was the only comedy a young breh could even watch. I still remember breh talking about the superman belt to this day ain't no way I forgot the kid movie

I don't actually ever remembering there being a Genie movie starring Sinbad called Shazam. But, the thought of Sinbad starring as a Genie in a 90's movie seems all to real and plausible. So it does cause somewhat of a Mandela effect for some. Not for me doe. I would've remembered that movie for sure.
