I don't think this is even a question anymore. Videogames will turn into the simulation of a simulation relative to us. Grand Theft Auto is just the primitive form of a future advanced simulation.
:ohhh:So imagine once we start modding reality like they do on GTA 4 for computers..........first thing im modding is my dikk will have infinite armor from STDS

No, The Matrix was saying that society (the institutions and symbols) is an illusion that people can't separate from the harsh reality of nature. Read some Baudrillard or Plato

Or Marshall McCluhan

"Welcome to the desert of the real" was the first line in Simulcra and Simulation.

I wont even pretend i understand this, but i can subscribe to the notion that we are a simulation and Hologram.

But to that point, are we an exact mirror image of another reality? I like to think that we aren't. We might only be a quantum particle difference of the reality we are mirroring. I think this allows for the theories of multiple dimensions and even time travel if that were the case. You cant alter the past or "kill your grandfather" in this reality but you can do it in another.

I read the article and still don't understand what it's trying to say, but I don't think it means to say our reality isn't real.

I think you're projecting (pun). I don't think the article means to say we are a "mirror". I don't see any description of such in the article.

I took it that we are a 2d representation of a 3d existence. Kind of like when you look in a mirror. Maybe that isnt the right wkrd persay.

The Matrix was basically saying that the physical world is a simulation, breh. The Red Pill was to show reality. The Red Pill = DMT, which when high enough levels are produced in the brain , can grant access to the spirit realm (reality).

What creates the stimulation though? Is there some sort of universe-creating machine pumping out universal particles which form the universe we live in?

With respects to human experience, does it matter whether such a machine exists or not? I mean, I feel like life is real and so it is real to me. There is no other reality I live in and no other experience by that which I live. So does it matter the origins of my universe or what lies beneath? Nothing changes regardless of the answer.

What are the implications as far as the origins of the universe? I also see people mention Blackholes anytime this is brought up, why?
the hologram idea is pretty old google the black hole wars

if i remember correctly what led to the holographic principle initially was the way information escapes being pulled into black holes contradicting the premise that nothing should be able to escape black holes. the hologrpahic principle was proposed by susskind and 'thooft to solve that
