What is the official verdict?

I thought young Simba would deliver a modern day classic. However, I gotta kee it real. The album was just alright. Too many love songs and iffy production ruin the flow for me. I think he could deliver better on his next one.

I still bump

i really hate how music has turned more and more pop and commercial. its not longer who can rap, but who can get their hands on the hottest beats.

all the songs are here, i'd rather just here the beats then actually listen to the garbage they put over it. i gotta admit though, j cole is nicer than a lot of guys doing it, but ya too much love crap.

you might be feeling my dude el gunna tho...

really? :dwillhuh:

I still rock with this album all the time. Except maybe one or two tracks I love it. It's like a 4/5 for me. Maybe that is just me :skip:

He still has songs in rotation out here, I hear them all the time, but I personally stopped listening to his record a while ago.

It is actually not even a bad record. Like lyrically and production wise its straight, he did a good job out the gate. It is just one of those records, for me personally, that didn't have enough stand out tracks to get me to play it long after the fact. I suffer from 'On To The Next One' syndrome in the mainstream.

Solid 3.5-4 mics

Nothing overly excitable. I listened to it maybe 5 times before I was through with it.

Album had no replay value. Production/Beats were bland and boring too.

I tried to play the album several times and I just got bored of it.

Good for him for producing most of his debut album.
But im gonna need him on other producers beats to give him some life.

Reminds of hearing Eminem's boring ass beats

He had some standout songs like "Dollar and a Dream III" and "Rise and Shine" but most of the album is Zzzzz Status
