I'm going on a protective style journey/challenge. I have a lot of breakage and unevenness. However, u been doing a new regimen, keeping my hair in twists during wash days and during the week. And I've noticed it's doing much better. Also, not being afraid to trim my ends and stop trying to hold on to length because my hair should actually be much longer. I'm trying to get past this plateau.

Gonna be wigging it up during the winter.
I'm actually wearing Outre Tess in my snaps.

Starting point:

Sundays:
Wash in twists with Shea Moisture low porosity shampoo and conditioner.
Deep Condition with Shea Moisture Intensive Hydration masque (every 2 weeks, or weekly if needed during colder months)

Detangle and retwist with Shea moisture Low Porosity Leave in and seal ends with Shea Moisture JBCO Loc & Braid Butter

Keep twists in bun or under wig. If I feel my hair getting overmoisturized I will switch the hydrating deep conditioner with the Shea Moisture JBCO Strengthen and Grow Masque.

@KaliOshun i tried to ask this in the ladies thread but no one answered, if i have low porosity hair does that mean i have it for my facial hair as well (i do know head hair and facial hair are different in some ways)?

Most people have low to normal porosity hair. Low just means that the cuticles on your hair strands are tightly shut. So it takes longer for water to enter and exit the hair. If you overload the hair with product build up. Then it really makes it difficult to moisturizer your hair. So you need to keep your hair and skin clean.

Facial hair is just coarser meaning there are more cuticle layers. Hair normally becomes higher because of chemical processing or mechanical damage. Basically creating opening in the cuticle, meaning water can leave the hair faster and the the hair becomes drier faster.

Water is important because it makes the hair more flexible and elastic lessening the chance of breakage. But too much also causes the hair strand to swell. So since hair is dead, it doesn't repair itself. The only way to repair he damage is to temporarily cover it with certain proteins.

Look for penetrating oils to nourish hair from the inside and prevent hydral fatigue from the hair swelling.

lol ur so knowledgeable, thanks. Coconut sits on my heads but olive oil works great. I been using emu oil since July and it's working well. I'm alternating between that and mango butter, thanks cinna:smile:
