Those are men who ran for elected office and won
Kwesi Mfume used to be a radio show host......ran for congress and won.

All four men mentioned are college graduates, btw.

What Malcolm was saying specifically is that just being a popular entertainer doesn't hold the weight with white folks as it seems to hold with our communities.

The thing is making celebrities Leaders is an American culture thing. Look at Kylie Jenner she could legit win an election if she ran for one

When we allow music to be played all day about drugs & killing each other to be played to be exposed to our kids & don’t fight back about it, we will never have a real community

we wont ever have a real community supporting professional athletes and leagues that are advocates for interracial marriage either

Malcolm X disdain for dikk Gregory and comedy as a form of social and political commentary is wrong. Intelligent comedy is another form of social satire which is a medium of providing social commentary and thought. Most people, from your lower class working man to your suit wearing man can related to comedic commentary if its on point. The fact it makes you laugh makes the message more enjoyable and easier to digest by people who take it in. If your comedy is incisive and sharp enough you can probably push ideas better than a "serious" writer can. Also comedians have a talent for packaging thoughts and ideas in clever and also concise ways to make people say "you know hes right" and I've seen folks of all classes cite comedic takes on an issue as a way to bolster their argument.

Never heard anyone say this should be your only leader but they have their place in an overall movement to get a message out. A dikk Gregory would be an asset to a movement where he provides the digestible comedic message while MLK and X provide the intellectual rhetoric and thoughts which can in turn inspire the comedic realm. A symbiotic relationship can exist between the medium.

Malcolm X is wrong here.

P.S. I see a lot of folks in the white community who look up to George Carlin and Bill Hicks for their commentary on social and political issues.

Who is this? And what did he do?
:usure: that's Thomas Sankara, president of Burkina Faso from 1983 until his execution in 1987. -- the absolute GOAT given his character, leadership, and what he accomplished in such a short span of time.

  1. He vaccinated 2.5 million children against meningitis, yellow fever and measles in a matter of weeks.
  2. He initiated a nation-wide literacy campaign, increasing the literacy rate from 13% in 1983 to 73% in 1987.
  3. He planted over 10 million trees to prevent desertification.
  4. He built roads and a railway to tie the nation together, without foreign aid.
  5. He appointed females to high governmental positions, encouraged them to work, recruited them into the military, and granted pregnancy leave during education.
  6. He outlawed female genital mutilation, forced marriages and polygamy in support of Women’s rights
  7. He sold off the government fleet of Mercedes cars and made the Renault 5 (the cheapest car sold in Burkina Faso at that time) the official service car of the ministers.
  8. He reduced the salaries of all public servants, including his own, and forbade the use of government chauffeurs and 1st class airline tickets.
  9. He redistributed land from the feudal landlords and gave it directly to the peasants. Wheat production rose in three years from 1700 kg per hectare to 3800 kg per hectare, making the country food self-sufficient.
  10. He opposed foreign aid, saying that “he who feeds you, controls you.”
  11. He spoke in forums like the Organization of African Unity against continued neo-colonialist penetration of Africa through Western trade and finance. He called for a united front of African nations to repudiate their foreign debt. He argued that the poor and exploited did not have an obligation to repay money to the rich and exploiting.
  12. In Ouagadougou, Sankara converted the army’s provisioning store into a state-owned supermarket open to everyone (the first supermarket in the country). He forced civil servants to pay one month’s salary to public projects.
  13. He refused to use the air conditioning in his office on the grounds that such luxury was not available to anyone but a handful of Burkinabes.
  14. As President, he lowered his salary to $450 a month and limited his possessions to a car, four bikes, three guitars, a fridge and a broken freezer.
  15. A motorcyclist himself, he formed an all-women motorcycle personal guard.
  16. He asked all public servants to wear a traditional tunic, woven from Burkinabe cotton and sewn by Burkinabe craftsmen. (The reason being to rely upon local industry and identity rather than foreign industry and identity)
  17. When asked why he didn’t want his portrait hung in public places, as was the norm for other African leaders, Sankara replied “There are seven million Thomas Sankaras.”
  18. An accomplished guitarist, he wrote the new national anthem himself.
Thomas Sankara’s Achievements in Burkina Faso
:damn: Ion give a fukk what nobody got to say, that's the GOAT :wow:

Nall breh Malcolm almost died earlier because of his disrespect. The Philadelphia black mafia had the green light when Malcolm lived in Philly because they thought he was gay. He lived with a man in north philly and slept in same bed but they were told to stand down by someone of higher authority

we wont ever have a real community supporting professional athletes and leagues that are advocates for interracial marriage either
how do sports leagues and athletes advocate for interracial marriage :dwillhuh:

and if the vast majority of Black men and women marry within the race then how do the small minority who don't somehow affect the community?

how did you manage to bring dikk policing into a thread about Malcolm X?

:dead:

Farrakhan admitted to it already breh. That's why I can't fukk with him or the NOI. It's clear Malcolm was a threat to an establishment that overlooked Elijah's fukkery in pursuit of personal gain/wealth/fame, and Malcolm threatened to topple their entire grift.

Now it's 2019 and Malcolm is a legend while Farrakhan (who has admittedly done some good things of course) is out here pimping scientology.
:gucci:

Farrakhan said nothing of the sort crakkka. If he did, you think cacs wouldn't have him in a jail cell?

And stop pretending like you care about Malcolm or the NOI. You a crakkka and its clear as day. Yalls favorite tactic is to pit our leaders against one another.
