I have HSV-2 and I agree and support this movement. But youd never catch me do this. Too much to lose and not enough to gain. Not in this lifetime at least. Sad as it is.

Mind you ive also completely cut myself off from the general dating pool so im not being a scumbag and fukking presumably healthy people without them knowing my status either.

Once again folks, condoms and low partners arent enough to prevent STDs. Id been with 4 girls and got HSV-2. Was unprotected...but HSV2 isnt completely prevented by condoms.

Also cant stress enough...DO NOT RELY ON HEALTH DEPARTMENT TESTS TO GAUGE YOUR HEALTH. Most health dept. tests are the cheaper end and will only catch gonorrhea and chlamydia accurately. For example in order to determine if you have HIV with a Health Dept. test you have to have it for at least 3 months for that test to accurately identify it.

And health depts. will only test for HSV IF YOU HAVE A LIVE CULTURE (aka a outbreak of sores). If not you have to get a very expensive blood test called a IGG test that most health depts. DONT OFFER. HSV affects everyone differently so dont think a lack of lesions means youre good.

This is my way to spread awareness because so many people have it, dont know it, and arent aware of effective ways to find out they have it.

So true. I had a scary teammate in college who SWORE she had herpes and wouldn't get checked. when she finally did can you believe those mofos told her she didn't have a breakout so she shouldn't get tested AND because she probably wouldn't get a breakout it was best to not get tested. Couldn't believe it!

The push for everything being okay...continues. :snoop:

I've got to get out of this poisonous society quick. :why:

You're a moron, I'm completely on board with this because then I know who not to engage in sexual acts with.

I just can't believe people would actually have a problem with this. It would help cut down on the spread of STD's. If women and men were just up front bout that bullshyt. I know so many stupid mother fukkers that won't even get tested despite fukking raw with numerous women

I'm sitting here thinking the same thing. You gotta be dumb as hell to find anything wrong with this. It would help you more than it would harm you. Idiots.

Couldn't believe it!

Heres why:

1. In the medical world, HSV is considered minor AF. No bullshyt. Drs. will tell you straight up "its only a minor skin condition that rarely needs long term meds." Most people's worst outbreak, is their first one. After that they become less frequent and less severe. VERY FEW people NEED monthly treatment and usually only do so as means to be sexually active again with little to no risk of spread (even though youre not very contagious if youre not having an outbreak or experiencing viral shedding* and are having sex protected)

2. At one point in time, blood tests to catch HSV were very prone to false positives. This test is called the IGM. Dont ever get the test. the IGG is the test you want. Anyway, the IGM hasnt been completely thrown in the bushes in the medicine world so some hospitals DO still offer the test (i believe its cheaper). Due to this test having such a high false postiive rate, YET being a test that some Docs can ONLY administer, alot of the medical worlds has just said "fukk it" and would rather NOT give you the test, get a false positive and cause emotional trauma. This is why they prefer live cultures as a live culture test is also cheap and FAR MORE conclusive and not prone to false positives.

3. If docs actually gave everyone a IGG test to catch HSV with no outbreak? We would be in the midst of one of the greatest pandemics in the Western World. Scary fact: 80% of people with HSV DONT KNOW THEY HAVE IT. And 1 in 6 people are to have HSV-2. The hysteria would be through the roof due to the stigma associated with HSV. So because docs consider HSV so minor....why rouse the public for somethings that wont kill you or cause any long term health issues? :yeshrug:

*It should be stated that those with HSV are more likely to spread it during visible outbreaks and during moments of intermittent viral shedding which is basically 36 days out the year that someone with HSV can not have a outbreak and be very contagious. Otherwise, as long as a HSV carrier is using protection, they can still be sexually active and have a very low chance of spreading it. This rate gets even lower with monthly surpressive therapy which is basically using Valtrex everyday. The key to lowering spreading it, is to lower chances of outbreaks which can be controlled through diet, exercise and maintaining a stress free lifestyle.

But remember HSV is spread skin to skin. So even during oral sex its best to use protection to prevent spread.

Bruh this used to be closed door type of stuff!!! When did everything have to be public? Std pride? :what:

I heard a joke from a comedian the other day, talking about how the Internet has everyone's weird shyt out in public. He heard about this adult baby convention and decided to check it out. Said there was 8500 adult baby diaper wearing mf's in there who found each other on the Internet :russ:

Point is, even if this is the agenda you're pushing keep that as a secret society. World is going down y'all. Gonna have my young bucks thinking wearing dresses is cool and having the package should be something to be happy about :martin:

You and a lot of other posters are missing the point completely.

STIs are the elephant in the room. They're far more common than people think(and most of them have been around since humanity became mass migratory thousands of years ago) but because of their taboo status, people with them are shunned and live in shame.

Most perceptions of STIs are shrouded in ignorance. People think you got them because you were promiscuous. Or a drug user. Or that having them makes you a lesion covered leper. Clearly these perceptions and shunning of people have done nothing to help given that currently STIs are on the rise thanks to online dating.

Not one person with an STI is happy about getting them. But the fact of the matter is that we have them. And we're not some dregs living on to edge of the society. We're normal people too.

I don't have the courage to out myself but the point is by acknowledging that normal people have it too, we can make a step toward greater education and prevention of STIs.

I get that, but shout your status? :what:
Putting it on the Internet?
Making it a hashtag?

I guess I don't have much of a voice in this one because I'm not in that situation, but there's better ways of doing it.

The Internet is the greatest form of communication and information known to man.
I can't think of any more effective means of raising awareness.
