Should the NBA possibly look at the NHLs New All Star format for ideas?

Because when a league is looking to get more popular they can be more progressive and come up with new ideas.

Just because a league....more so the sport itself isn't as popular doesn't mean those ideas aren't useful.

You guys saying you wouldn't want to see an nba jam type tournament?

NHL doesn't have useful ideas, but I could name about a dozen horrible ones that have set them back to even more irrelevancy.

shyt I list some for you

Only league that rewards points for losing :scust:

Only league that uses points instead of winning percentage to determine league standings :scust:

Wanted to have 4 conferences as a suggestion :heh:

Gonna expand to 32 teams when the league is at this worst in terms of overall talent level :scust:

They are times where there are back-to-back games in a playoff series, how the NHLPA still allows that is :what:

I'm sure soccer gives points for a tie as well.

Doesn't soccer do this as well? And since they allow ties, winning percentage can't be used.

No different than the NFL really

That is extremely rare, most games are every other day, and IMO is way better than the 3-4 days in between like the nba

Y'all hating on the OP but be the first one to post  in the all star game thread. The last all star game that was actually good was in 2003. That was 13 years ago. shyt is hella boring and the one player that is actually made for all star(Blake) isn't even playing this year.

The fact that this is turning in to an NHL vs NBA thread shows how pathetic and insecure some basketball fans are.

Basically dudes complain every year that the all star games sucks(in both leagues)
The nhl is tinkering with different ideas to get fans in to it, and NBA fans think that's a bad idea?
Why?

If the NBA could make some changes....especially to the Saturday night lineup to make things more interesting then why the hell now?

The NHL eliminated ties after the lockout in 2005, so they really is no reason to keep the points system to determine league standings. They added the Overtime Time Loss point in 1999 to give the league more "parity", but all it really does is keep the crappier teams in the race longer. In my opinion, it should W-L Win% like all the other sports, NHL has this goofy nonsense makes it look 2nd tier as a sport.

There's nothing they can do besides give out contracts with all star games incentives. These dudes too worried about their brand

And the nbas parity has allowed only 9 different teams to win the championship in the last 30+ years :manny:

As for the overtime thing, I don't really care for the extra point so much, but I don't hate it either. It's meh to me

But the new overtime rules have been fun to watch the few games I've seen
