For the first time since the 60's black men were speaking candidly about the state of black America and men in general and real dialogue happened throughout the media.

Also the music at that time had some "political"undertones in it as well...

Naw, what really helped made it significant was that it was a rare, 'once in a lifetime' sort of event so to say. Having one every year wouldn't have that same impact. Instead of a million man march, there needs to be a much more concerted effort at educating fellow blacks in areas such as personal finance and education and other such important subjects.
