Don't buy a gaming laptop because they get outdated quickly and are only worth it if you travel often. If you're considering going PC go with a desktop you can either build it yourself or buy a prebuilt. I know many are against prebuilts, but you can often find prebuilts that are cheaper than building yourself.

Old PlayStation games.. emulation and PC games..
Xbox is cheaper but can only play Xbox games that are all on PC anyways
If money is no problem get a PC or laptop... Of you wanna save money go with the Xbox...

MSI gaming laptops got great heatsinks, you need to do research on a specific laptop before buying because like others said the majority of them overheat and get performance-throttled.
