When AI is advanced enough to full interpret the law would they be a better judge then a human judge. Often times judges are in league with attorneys and show bias in many cases for a variety of reasons. If there were set standards for sentencing, and law interpretations would AI make a better judge then a human judge?

Well, there is always a subjective element in the law. The AI, unless it could "learn" and express new ideas like a human, wouldn't be able to account for the living side of law, as something that is always changing and being reinterpreted. That's why we have an odd number of judges on the Supreme Court, for example- it's an acknowledgment of that inevitable subjective element.

Is there any level in the court system where an AI judge could replace a courtroom judge?

exactly. if the whole process was just some simple boolean logic, we could automate it now. but it's a little more complicated than that...

Can i get an example of something complicated in the law. If two people murder their wives intentionally what makes sentencing complicated that they would recieve 2 different sentences outside of the bias of the judge and attorneys.

A completely sentient AI would not only be the worst thing to happen to humanity, but also an engineering feat on par with traveling near light speeds.

well you're raising the bar pretty high talking about 1st degree murder, but there's still factors, like a person's prior record, that come into play. but I think it's easier to think of a lesser crime, and how various factors can influence sentencing

Why does a prior record matter when we're talking about murder?

That would be stupid, but I personally believe that judges should be eradicated. Most judges are old ass white half racist upper class men. That particular demographic seems to be the most out of touch with the way the world works now. The jury system should be modified in a way where you get a fair share of each dempgraphic to decide on major crime cases, or fukking have america vote like on american idol or some shyt...I rather have a nikka similar to me telling me I fukked up than some white cac that makes 6 figures a year playing god in a courtroom.

Who's going to replace you to raise your seed is the real question.

like I said, 1st degree murder isn't a good example since it is such a heinous crime on it's own. but never the less, a history of violent crime can be a factor

worst part is even these judges are often going to be more lenient than the law allows

we gotta get rid of mandatory minimums type stuff and other knee jerk interference from lawmakers

Noooooo!!!

I deal with a number of expert systems in my line of work and they're (mostly) garbage. Even if they worked 100% of the time, there's still a human element required to do what a judge does.

What element is that? Objections and overrulings?
