OK, I let this similar comment rock about 5 times but now I gotta say something, while all respect is due to Shock and DU for giving Pac a mainstream look we can't revise history and act like Pac didn't already have a small underground buzz locally with records with Ray Luv and cats from 5150, while DU is who happened to put Pac on in a major way and allowed him to skip some levels in the game (not taking anything away from them) Pac woulda made a splash regardless, it coulda just as easily been Rich or Gov who put him on, he was coming regardless.

you don’t realize how big shock g was in the early 90s my guy clearly!!! Humpty Dumpty was damn near the tootsie roll levels mainstream wise. So again putting pac on a commercial hit that was also on a mainstream movie did more than you think. So let’s not revisit history and say he woulda coulda nothing... facts remain shock put pac on.

It was inevitable that he'd blow, but I think Shock was a huge reason that he (Pac) is as revered as he is today.
I don’t disagree at all that Shock played a big role, DU opened the doors for a lot of ppl Luniz, Saafir, Mystic, Whoridas..the list goes on, Pac by far had the greatest success out of anybody who got in the industry via the Underground Railroad, I just think that his (Shocks) contribution to that legacy stands tall on its own without re-writing what it really was. The other cats Pac started with in the Bay were coming out nationally in 91/92 as well so Pac was coming through those doors regardless, DU happened to be the ones who opened the doors though.

DU is the first rap group (along with EPMD) I got really big into as a kid, so I definitely do.

And i'm not trying to take anything away from them at all, not even trying to dispute that Shock and Atron are responsible for Pacs entry into the mainstream, thats a fact, but I know the history and who all else was involved, to say we never woulda heard of Pac is just not factually accurate.
