This movie had very little promotion. I didn't even realize it was coming out last week until I checked the new movies for something to do last weekend.

I buy about a dozen or so DC Comics every week, and they always had an ad for the movie on the back cover, but that was it as far as promotion goes that I saw.

Plus they already told audiences that this movie doesn't matter because the universe is being rebooted and there's no sign of Shazam in it. DC movies are just in a holding pattern until the GunnVerse officially begins. I expect Flash and Aquaman 2 to underperform as well, and Blue Beetle might as well just go on HBO Max and be done with it.

My opinion on why this flopped:
1) Low promotion (there are more toys for the yet unreleased Flash than for this movie).
2) No one cared because the universe is about to be rebooted.
3) Dc ruined the character in the first place by changing his name, having a color variant family that don't even have superhero names!
4) Antman 3 at least baited people with a hyped villain, this movie just made up bland villains.
5) Zachary Levi just isn't that cool or convincing.
6) Black Adam didn't tie in in any way.
7) The previous movie's post credits didn't amount to anything yet.

Not surprised. As soon as I saw this fukking pic...

I knew Dwayne has his megalomaniacal hands all over this shyt to the point of it being ruined. I mean, he didn't even TRY to act like Black Adam...no accent, no range, just The Rock staring and flying. Add to the fact that you don't even mention Shazam when your character is SHAZAMS MAIN fukkING VILLAIN WITH THE SAME fukkING POWERS FROM THE SAME fukkING SOURCE, and you don't even mention or cameo Shazam is just fukking baffling and just shows that Dwayne might've been too big for this role. Sometimes less is more.

It would’ve made more sense if Shazam was the one at the end of Black Adam instead of Superman.

I don’t understand the Rock’s point of view. Black Adam is to Shazam what Dr Doom is to the Fantastic 4, Joker to Batman, Luthor to Superman etc etc. Why he doesn’t have any interest in Shazam is puzzling.

Dwayne has to be top dog or be equal to top dog. That's why you saw Superman instead of Shazam.

It should have been one of those "creative difference" splits as soon as Dwayne wanted absolutely no parts of Shazam but he was blatantly skipping rungs in the ladder to get his ideas greenlit. After all these years who knows he might've had a pay or play clause.

Shazam is a kids movie though. So why would he want to be part of that? :mjlol:

And it was going to collapse with or without his involvement because it was a poorly done film.

So he was right to avoid it and want to face Superman or someone on that level only.

Shazam did $360 million, and I think that was just off of the strength of people not knowing what to expect, being worried that it was gonna be some bullshyt, and also they way WB fukked up the movies before it. Audiences actually liked Shazam and a lot of folks thought that this was gonna be the new fresh starting point for DC films. Just my opinion, but if WB didn't fukk up the movies before Shazam, it would've made more.

Black Adam only made $390 million and was supposed to be WB's new billion dollar baby, supposedly learning from all the mistakes that was made in the past. In my opinion, they absolutely should've tied Black Adam to the better received Shazam film instead of making a one shot convoluted "Dwayne Johnson playing The Rock playing Black Adam" film.

Shazam had a scene that hinted at Black Adam’s appearance

Dwayne even started off hyping the showdown between the two.
