Every time I go on social media I see people thirsting over Grace Fulton. She's definitely hot but she don't look better than Meagan Good.
I really don't buy Billy's motivations in this movie. In the first one, it was clear that Billy wasn't trying to get to know his foster family because all he wanted was his birth mother. This one they keep saying that he's clinging to his foster family in part because he doesn't want to grow up, but I don't know that I buy that. It's a big emotional beat in the beginning that Billy still calls Rosa by her first name, so I don't believe he's really that attached to them, other than being a bum who doesn't want to get a job.
Even Billy's 'all or nothing' approach to their powers doesn't make me believe that he's clinging to his foster family to latch on to his childhood. If they hadn't kept telling us that, I would have just bought that he was the only one taking his superheroics somewhat seriously, but he felt like he needed his brothers and sisters because they had strengths that he didn't, as evidenced by the scene with the pediatrician in the beginning.
I also don't buy any part of Anne and Freddy's relationship. Billy immediately put two and two together that Anne was the third daughter of Atlas, so I don't buy her "Aww, shucks! I didn't mean to hurt you, Freddy! " routine. She obviously knew she had to get to Freddy for some reason, even if she didn't explicitly know he had the power of Shazam.
The first two acts definitely felt more like Freddy's story than Billy's. I guess that's because Jack Dylan Grazer can still reasonably play a high schooler, while Asher Angel looks old as shyt now. . Reminds me of Tyler James Williams in the last season of Everybody Hates Chris.
Glad to see Adam Brody getting some screen time tho. Aside from this and the first movie, I feel like he hasn't done jack shyt since The O.C. At least he didn't get in that time.
Maybe it was the whiskey hitting, but I was like when Billy finally called Rosa mom.
I know everybody hates Gal Gadot now, but I was like when she showed up at the end. Unlike The Rock, she wasn't too good to do a cameo.
Best cameo in the movie tho was Wolf Blitzer.
It's a recurring problem for these superhero movies, but the third act is all over the place, with Lucy Liu's character being the 'true' villain, plus them having to get Helen Mirren's help in the end, and Billy's sacrifice, and the unicorns. That really took me out of the movie for a bit.
The mid- and post-credits scenes are completely unnecessary given James Gunn is cleaning house. We're probably not getting another Shazam movie any time soon, if ever with this cast, much less anything involving the JSA again.
All that being said, it was decent, but not as good as the first. compared to Ant-Man and The Wasp, this movie at least knew what it was trying to be and stuck to it.
That's what I am saying...they keep this bullshyt and fire Cavil's Superman? BA shyts all over this....
Safran co-signed this shyt...so like I said...the future of DCU will be woke, pandering, edgey, subvert expectations, 80s themes bullshyt!!! Aka...GotG 2 and GoTG 3 more than likely....

I’m not sure how you missed it but the pediatrician straight out said what his problem was. It was imposter syndrome.
He wasn’t clinging to his family, he was controlling them. The “all together“ thing was something they had outgrown but Billy was forcing them to abide by it. That’s why he got mad at Freddie doing a solo save. Mary held off going to college but she was trying to leave. Billy didn’t know that was going to happen to him after turning 18 so he was trying to be Captain Marvel, even though he wasn’t great at it, to the point of smothering them.
The thing with the mom was still the attachment thing from the first movie. He thought they would abandon him at 18 so he kept it formal instead of calling her mom.
