I think the grass is always greener. I know a bunch of retired men who wish they were still working cause they've got nothing to do. I know a bunch of people with good jobs who wish they were business owners so they could "be their own boss". I know a number of business owners who wish they could just "put this down and get a regular job" because it's so stressful or their business is going badly. I know 1 or 2 successful business owners who wish they had more time for their families and friends, etc etc....

Maybe it's human nature to never be satisfied. To want more or different. The never ending pursuit of happiness. Or more happiness.

Preach :lawd:

i think ALOT of us are in the same boat you are, especially us "learn-ed" ones. That shyt you said about the old IT head stuck with me because theres middle aged cats at my job and some real old heads who are gonna be irrelevant (some are) on the strength of technology alone. Sometimes I wish i had the $$$ to "hit" the pause button and get my shyt in order so that I can fly on my own. I think at some point, alot of these old heads became okay with just showing up to work everyday and getting a check. Some days they didnt have to do much or exert themselves and in turn, they were able to afford to feed, clothe and shelter their families. I guess thats the trade off. you put them dreams on hold (indefinitely) so that you can survive without having to be in constant survival mode.

But I wanna do more. you spend 8 hours at work and like 1.5 hours on top of that just getting to and from work, and those are usable hours where you could really be making shyt pop off. i know for a fact that more and more of our generation just stay up later and later. Some are up learning the things that will make them truly independent, others are sniffing out some p*ssy, some are getting :flabbynsick: just eating garbage and watching TV, while others are burning up time playing shyt like GTA V. We all go through a combination of that, but at some point a small minority do turn that "corner" and just figures it out.

i gotta fukken make it brehs, i dont have a back up plan. no one is gonna take care of me :sadbron:

I agree with OP but I'm just too lazy to do anything :russ:

I'd be happy making a decent living and having a family :ehh:

At the end of the day we're all just small cogs in the machine that powers the dreams of the rich.

The sooner you realize it though, the sooner you can get out of the system of debt that keeps you working those soul crushing jobs where all you have to look forward to is 48 hours on the weekend.

This. Although I'm at a place where the money is reeeeal good and I like my job. But this shyt aint sustainable so I'm planning my next move. It's crazy how American culture and society sets us up to be nothing but miserable, diabetic, workers who depend on pills and alcohol to get by.

Most people just want stability. A constant paycheck that provides a decent life. But for others, u kno u want more and society tells u it's not likely, so u might as well fall in line. U 30, so ur still young and have time. Pick up Felix Dennis "How To Get Rich". Great book that describes the mentality to not settle for being like everyone else. I'm only 23, but I had this revelation a few years ago. I still went to college, but I knew I could never work a 9-5 and be happy. Now I need to stop procrastinating so much.

im at the point now where i would be happy just having an ok-paying, low stress, 7-3 type job. i just want a job that i dont dread going to everyday and still have time to enjoy my personal life after i get off. nikkaz need to realize the world aint designed for everybody to be their own boss. in fact ITS IMPOSSIBLE. if you have a job that you dont mind going to everyday then you are one of the lucky few. i would say that 80% of ppl hate their job. quit bytching and stop takin that shyt for granted

I feel you dog, what scares me especially as a black man. A job aint promised and you're definitely not going to stay on a job for 20 years and retire. No pensions for most of us. Just looking at the numbers, a lot of people will be jobless in the future. Our country doesn't build anything and the population is growing.

Here's how you get rich:

1. Write a book telling people how to get rich. Include enough inspirational stories and impart a strict regimen that most people will not be able to follow.
2. Profit

I'm jokin. I haven't even read the book but a lot of these writers are peddling the same ideas over and over for a buck.

Lol true...I got it free online tho :jawalrus:....and it's almost like an anti get rich book IMO.....it's really like an auto biography of how Felix Dennis made his millions and the mentality u have to have to get money...which buys the most valuable thing in life...time
