What the hell happened to our dreams? How did we go from wanting to change the world or be famous, to living a mediocre existence? (Not that there's anything wrong with a normal life.)
Remember in school they told us you can be or do whatever you put your mind to!
Some of the best sounding bs I've ever heard. For many of us and mostly everyone in the world, our dreams never turn into reality.
They shouldve told us, " you're going to have to be or do something amazing to be well off or to be great." Truth is, you aren't great or special, until you do something great or special. I think the teaching to of all the kids and everyone is great, is a setup for failure. When you think you're already great, w/o doing anything, you don't try hard as you can. You aren't special, you have to work to become special.
I just hate the way the teachers and society pushes this super optimistic, sky's the limit bs to youngsters. In reality life is hard for most people. Hard to get a good job. Hard to find a good mate. Hard to avoid all of these scams and ripoffs. Hard to live well.
The path that most of us were told to follow in society, isn't a path of greatness. We go to school, graduate. Some of us went off to college, some to the military, some hungout, some went straight to working. Sure college and the military can help you land a good job sometimes, but is that greatness? Working and scrambling year after year, competing for jobs? Before you know, youre old. Never taken a few months off to travel or to relax. Just a bunch of hustle and bustle. With 2 or 3 weeks of vacations a year. That's the path most of us are on. A lifetime of working.
I'm 30 now, i'm starting to see this sh:t clearly. There's going to have to be a point in life were we some fukk it, and put it all on the line. Most of us will fail miserably, some of us want try at all. Very very very will step out there. Even if we fail, at least we tried. I've been in IT for 12 years. I do well for myself, but the old ITs scare me. I don't want to be an old IT. Matter of fact, I don't want to be a old person with a good job. I don't want to be 40/50 yo working everyday. Getting laid off, competing for jobs. Thank God I was able to save, Im make some money from my house. I don't feel it's too late to do it big, but I have to come up with some brilliant idea. I'm racking my brain everyday to come up with something. I want to be in charge. I want to create jobs and hire. My brother just started a business. First person probably in our family's history to do so. I'm so proud of him, we from the gutter gutter. It's all on me now.
2014, I got to live or drown.
