in an instant all of Kobe's anger at Shaq was about to resurface :mjlol:

cant blame him for how he felt tbh:yeshrug:
Not really. Shaq would show up to camp out of shape after Kobe spent all summer and fall in the gym and then play his way into shape. Then the playoffs roll around and he seemingly effortlessly crushes basically everything in his path. It worked for him but it sets a bad precedent and as a competitor it has to get under your skin if your teammate dominates like that without taking great care of himself while you’re working around the clock. I’d have been mad if I were Kobe too.

Lakers fans idolize Kobe and rightfully so, because he did a lot for that franchise.
But they don't idolize and celebrate Shaq nearly enough. Lazy or not, he was dominant and his choice to sign with LA in 96 changed everything.

This board is overflowing with Kobe stans. There probably isnt a single Shaq stan.

His 2000-02 finals performances :damn:. His least impressive performance saw him shoot 59.5% from the field, 66.2% at the line, play 42 minutes per game, and average 36.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 blocks :damn:. Man averaged more than his number 2-4 players combined in 2000. Averaged 33/16/5 against the defensive player of the year in 2001 :damn:

Shaq gets his props but the nikka wasn't a Laker longer than he was one. Idk why you would expect him to get the same level of praise as kobe. It's been 14 years since Shaq was a Laker, only 2 for kobe.

Because his decision to sign with LA changed the course of your franchise. Without Shaq the Lakers probably don't win a title for god knows how many years. Without him the Lakers probably aren't even an option for Phil to take on. He's the bedrock of that dynasty in the early 2000s. LA before Shaq was a middling team...not terrible...but one that wasn't really going anywhere.

He’s the bedrock of everything from 1996-2011 honestly. Without him, the job is a lot less enticing to Phil and without Phil, Kobe doesn’t develop into who he was, and they obviously don’t get any of those 5 rings without Phil since there’s also no triangle offense or his player development/leadership. They had a lot of growing pains to go through even under him before really learning how to finish. Pretty sure they even had a losing record in close out games during the 2000 playoffs, losing 3 of them just in the last 2 rounds against the trailblazers and pacers.

That's over 20 years ago. he left, played for several different teams including the Celtics, shytted on kobe multiple times, Lakers won ships without him. The nikka is not gonna get praised on the level of a nikka who played for the franchise for 20 years. You trying too hard with this.

You don't really apply this logic to other Lakers greats but ok.
