He's just saying he wants them to get educations. I'm sure after that, they'll hold a position in one of his companies.

I’m mixed

Yeah white people spoil their kids into being successful in the real world but I get he’s trying to make them into adults with character.

His pops was military and all I think.

But hopefully he raised them into being successful… should’ve just created a trust fund but only with certain stipulations. Like getting a degree, or trade, or something.

I mean… look at Lavars kids :troll:

How people deal with their children is their own business, Shaq don't owe you nikkaz nothing

He being smart, so they can actually take care of themselves if he die tomorrow

You think Paris Hilton running the Hilton family business, they just got a trust set up so the family got a guaranteed income forever, but at the same time she only play dumb for that socialite image, and she gave Kim Kardashian the blueprint on how to get the easy bag creating a brand just for being famous

If I was super rich, I wouldn’t want to spoil my kids or kill their work ethic, but I’ll pay for the best private school, the best college, and tutors if needed. By doing that, they still have to earn the degrees, but I’m putting them in a great spot to be successful later in life. I went to state schools, and my friends who went to Ivy Leagues are doing noticeably better. I mean, I’m doing good, but they’re doing great. That Ivy League degree gets your foot in doors a little easier

Sure fire way of ruining your kids as a rich person is cultivating a sense of entitlement. You will learn that you can never give them enough.

This.

Also we’re running with this sound bite but does anyone here believe Shaq doesn’t look out for and give to his kids?? I don’t.

I think what he’s speaking to are two things..... his kids won’t be allowed to live their adult lifestyles in luxury off his money. And that he wants them to work as hard as he does now in his post NBA life, to generate their own levels of wealth. I can agreed with both those points.

Why have kids if you’re not gonna take care of them? At least hand them over a business so they can at least make a name for themselves. I never got this logic of making your kids suffer in this screwed up world.

Most rich people do a poor job of raising and preparing their kids.

You can give them access to the best shyt and still have them turn into productive citizens. Key is to set up a trust fund but not let them access it until they achieve certain milestones (grad HS, get bachelor's AND post grad degree, find a career and actually be independent for some length of time).

If I was Shaq, I'd encourage them to go to medical school, Harvard biz school...whatever and try to land top-shelf gigs. Even just making $80k/year...prove you can take care of yourself. Get your own apartment, car...all of it. The trust fund is there once I'm satisfied that they can handle shyt.

I went to college with plenty of white/asian kids who werent doing anything other than getting a degree before they stepped right into running/working their family business. Thats the way it should be. Its not a hand out, saying you just gonna get a check, but at the same time you aint telling your kids they starting from scratch.
