same type of shyt bill gates says. I mean he's ONLY gonna leave them a few billi. not a hundred billi.
The point I was trying to make is even if he leaves them nothing they’ve been collecting their whole lives. And “nothing” is just like you said; enough to be set for life just not Forbes 500 money.

Like if you don't have it to give I get it but if you got it help your kids out. They are buying the same groceries you do. You won't hear a white person with his wealth say shyt like this.

I would make my kids believe that but make sure everything is actually passed on to them, unless they just flat out dont deserve it or would ruin themselves with it

Generation wealth is one of the main things keeping blacks back

Above the fray.
Indeed
Maybe people have short memories, or maybe they just forget what doesn't support their stances, but in the past year or so, at least two successful entertainers had family business leak with their ADULT children "calling them out" for no longer giving them money.

Brian Mcknight and Kirk Franklin

I'm tempted to bump those threads so that those questioning Shaq now can read their old comments.

There was a former NFL player (who's a millionaire) who said he'd never give his kids 'ghetto names' because they won't be hirable.

As a millionaire it's weird to worry about the hireability of your kids.

No, it's not. The rate at which Black children born into wealth fall out of being wealthy is more than concerning. It's why I shake my head seeing the children of Black celebrity trying to get into the entertainment industry instead of going to college and becoming a doctor or some shyt.

I want to make clear that I do not encourage or support respectability politics, but being a child of a millionaire doesn't mean you won't have to seek a job in the dominant society.

I guarantee these wealthy black men/women money/assets come with extreme stipulations. Notice how the majority of their money/possessions never get handed down to their family without ultimate obstacles if at all.

I have to disagree here. That’s the exact problem. We should be preparing them to be owners and not workers. Their name should not be a determining factor.

I appreciate the article you posted but that mentality is part of the problem. If you manage to beat the odds and become black and wealthy, you should prepare your children to take over your assets.

If you’re more concerned with their hire-ability then you’ve already gone into the mindset of failure. Passing down jobs is passing down poverty. Our children should be inheriting property, tangible assets, stocks.

That’s why Rhianna can name her child RZA and it won’t affect his future prospects because that boy shouldn’t be writing a resume at any point in his life.
