:patrice:

Shaq is one precarious dude. The stuff this dude be saying sometimes is just:snoop:

I know Penny was a more efficient player...definitely a better playmaker. I could see how he was probably more fun for Shaq to play with. But to say he was “just as good”:why:

Penny was never as dominant as Kobe was. At his peak he was a 21/8/7 guy

At Kobe’s peak he was a 30/5/6 guy

That’s a big difference. Don’t get Shaq sometimes...

Admit you look at stats and not watch games breh brehs

He was also already 22 while Kobe was 18. Compare them at the same age and it's not close.

And the funny thing is Shaq was even wrong in this video. They reached the finals in Penny's second year not his first.
Why compare them at the same age? He was good enough to join the league at 18, was he not?

:russ: My nikkas dad said the same shyt the other day out of nowhere :dead:and said Len Bias would’ve been better than MJ
Must be something in the OG waters

My dad was just rambling about Dr J being GOAT. And how Lebron or Curry could win 10 straight & still not be better than Mike
:dead:
He did say Bean was the closest

This is unfair as Penny never got to enjoy a prime unhampered by injury. He was already washed in his late 20's during his 2nd season on the Suns. He was incredibly talented and should be given his flowers.

Penny does get his flowers tho :manny: everyone always knew he was good and his sneakers stayed relevant for a long time. Got the Memphis job with his logo on the practice jersey. He was able to build up a nice brand

I said that to say this isn't a crazy comp. Dude was nice with it and did a lot in a short span of time (specifically 93-97) for an argument like this to even be made.

People compare MJ (a shooting guard) to Bron (a small forward) all the time, what that gotta do with the topic?

Anyways, Shaq is incorrect.

And honestly it's foolish:ld: they play completely different roles. Point forward vs Traditional shooting guard.

Position vs Position is much easier debate.

You don't compare a quarterback to a running back. Do you?

penny was nice and maybe my favorite child as a very young kid
but i dont think his ceiling was THAT high
Penny only took like 15 shots per game in his “prime” because he deferred to Shaq, plus Nick Anderson and Dennis Scott were also getting you about 15-18ppg. That’s why his 21ppg in his best seasons seems “low” compared to the stars of today. Not to mention the era he played in. I remember I had an Inside Stuff magazine where Penny said he felt he could lead the league in scoring. Unfortunately, this was right before he got injured, and right after Shaq departed for LA. Penny was a 3 level scorer with excellent court vision and handles at 6’7”. His ceiling was extremely high.

I wonder how much shyt like this has to come out before the "NBA player opinion is all that matters!" crowd has to concede defeat.

I'm not even talking about whether Shaq's claim is true or not. But the posters who usually say NBA player opinion is sacrosanct will NOT like it.
