I'm not one these these coli brehs that throws the word c00n around liberally. I hate how recklessly that word gets tossed around.
That said what Ray is doing is text book c00ning. He's not offering a "different opinion." His words aren't even reflective of his own views. He's simply a black man who fell out of favor with the white establishment, got a second chance to get in their good graces, and will fight tooth and nail to remain there. He's just parroting white code words and talking points. Look how quick Ray cut Shannon off when he asked if the owner spoke on Freddie Gray. His retort was black on black crime.
All of these guys follow the same pattern. SAS and Whitlock were let go by ESPN. Vick went to jail, got back in the league, and now wants to become a coach. They're making moves against their own people to further their own selfish financial interests.
If the tap shoes fit
seems like to me all this "motivating" he's been doing since he got off has just been to get young Black kids to bash their heads harder to make the white owners/coaches more money. That's Ray's contribution back for his second chance.
Ultimately tho, none of these famous athletes live regular Black lives.
Many of them are no different than OJ, even if they wont publically admit it. Some of them are wise to the game if they havent forgotten where they came from.
