Her getting banned from the olympics this year was the best thing that ever happened for her short term. If she was still running then she HAD to win in order to be famous, other wise she would have been thrown in the bushes.

Now she’s famous without even having to risk losing.

The only problem is this is short term. She’s gonna be forgotten pretty soon unless she figures out how to keep herself relevant.

Yeah but it’s still potential millions lost. Some advertisers might possibly stay away forever after her link with drugs.

Iverson probably would have gotten more hate if he came up in the social media age.

I whole heartedly agree that all the bullshyt about her “look” is misguided respectability politics considering Dennis Rodman ran around in a dress with 15 different hair colorings per season and got a pass.

There is a time and place for the “pull up your pants, look respectable” talk and quite honestly Sports has NEVER been that place. If you are an athlete, the more flamboyant, free, and “colorful” you are adds to your brand and marketability. Whether that be in your speech and boisterousness (Ali, Mayweather) your style and swag (Iverson, Vick, Terrell Owens) or your personal appearance (Rodman, Richardson) it simply adds to your visibility.
