I'd say he's in the argument for best wrestler of 2018 for sure but reading this thread u would think otherwise, which is what I take issue with. To dismiss dude's skill level as a wrestler because of ONE spot u hate and a lack of selling which is a EVERYONE problem is disingenuous. I'll simply correct one thing not to take away from ur point but its easy to miss: Seth's injured knee hardly ever gets worked. He blew out his right knee, WWE style works the left. But with that being said I surely when I see dude getting ALL his shyt in after said working. Wrestlemania vs HHH being a prime example. I'll probly bring this up in the Raw thread but Seth is overexposed right now.My man came thru with the straw man. I'll entertain it.
Daniel Bryan not selling that was indeed lame. Great wrestler. Great match. Lame aspect of it. None of these dudes are perfect. Bryan, AJ, Seth...on down the list. And I don't think folks hate Seth. He's definitely still the consensus best wrestler of 2018 in the WWE to a lot of people i'd think?
But in the interest of fairness, if Bryan not selling his knee irks you, then Seth's coming back from injury, selling his knee on defense and forgetting it so he can high fly for several moves (Phoenix Splash, Ripcord Knee, Springboard knee and clothesline, Superplex into a sometimes deadlift Falcon Arrow all using the knee) should stand out more?
The superplex being a move that usually gets two counts because in kayfabe it wipes both guys out resulting in delayed pins being no sold by Seth (and some times his opponent if they're countering the arrow) into a Falcon Arrow for a two doesn't stand out?
Like there are degrees to this. Bryan's being at one level, and IMO Seth being at another as well as in EVERY match.
Read the title thinking Seth was channeling Davey Boy Smith and cut a promo talking about he's bizarre

That's why Brock will have to squash him for the bulture. The marks complain about Brock but he restores the cultural experience
Y'all know how I DESPISE this retarded ass spot, now this motherfukker did it FROM THE TOP OF THE CAGE
I just can't call him a good wrestler when he continues to push for this kind of wrestling. Crowd loved it though, this shyt is just not for me how many of you like this type of stuff?

Thanks for expounding on ur opinion cuz I definitely hear u. I definitely don't like the interchangeable autopilot slingblade ------> dive outside -------> blockbuster --------> burn it down combo but so goes the WWE style. Like I mentioned I believe its a byproduct of dude being overexposed. We see it time and time again so it became predictable. To be fair about that tho we always have to remember they play on the idea that ppl are always tuning in for the first time.To clarify, I didn't say I can't call him a good wrestler just because of this spot, but this is the type of shyt Seth keeps pushing on his matches: high spots that make little to no sense to get a pop from the crowd. That kind of stuff is fine, and there's no doubt it's effective with the live audience. But I have an issue when dude can't work a shine or a control segment to safe his life and relies more and more in this retarded shyt to get people interested in his matches. And he keeps doing these sequences that come of as completely choreographed (I blame Okada making people think everyone could pull those types of sequences off, when not even him can do it convincingly all the time). That might be fun to watch from time to time - specially on sprints, which Seth, sadly, rarely has - but it's not close to what I see as top level wrestling
RE: selling in general. I completely agree, it's become a lost art of sorts to find good, consistent selling. But I also think current wrestling makes it almost impossible for wrestlers to do a credible job when their leg is being worked on. The most effective stuff I've seen lately are from guys like Nomura and Hashimoto, who at least make it very clear it hurts like a motherfukker to use it, I wish more people would do that tbh.
As far as the selling goes, my biggest gripe today is how fast dudes get up after big spots. What ever happened to the 10 count? Dudes get up on what would be 4 the latest.
I don't watch much of the NJPW stuff but it's always come off more realistic because those dudes really be whooping each others ass all over the ring so when a man is selling his leg it probly really hurts like a mf lol.
I don't know if that death match type of shyt is for me anymore . I watched a video of the 100 most brutal chair shots and realized I'm good with them shyts being bannedIf that's the kind of selling you like to see in matches, there's a better alternative to New Japan....Big Japan's Strong division
